The first ever Sri Lankan fashion week in New York was held from June 22nd to June 25th. The highlight of the week was the US Lanka Fashion Show that was held at Hilton Garden Hotel in Staten Island New York on June 23rd 2017. Boston Lanka Media Network organized this event to promote Sri Lankan fashion in USA and especially in New York.
Three prominent Sri Lankan fashion designers Amilani Perera, Brian Kerkoven and Kamil Hewavitharana presented their unique collections at the show and Melache brand joined in the final segment of the fashion show adding their collection to the fashion show.
The Sri Lankan Ambassador to USA, Mr. Prasad Kariyawasam and Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. A.S. Khan were the Guests of Honor at the event. More than 20 fashion models took part in the show. Special performance was done by Sri Lankan pop star Teesha Perera. The main sponsor for the event was SriLankan Airlines.
