Fourteen road deaths in one day
Motor accidents had caused 14 deaths within the 24 hours ending 6 am yesterday, Motor Traffic and Road Safety Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said. He said so far 30 people have died of traffic accidents since April 13. During the same period 200 accidents had occurred causing injuries to persons. The rise in road accidents during the new year season was beyond expectations. The DIG also said so far 1,000 drunk drivers have been apprehended from April 11 upto April 16 morning legal action have been instituted against 30,000 drivers for traffic offences.
