Vatileaks Scandal Exposes Secrets Of Pope s Empire - http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/07/08/vatileaks-scandal-exposes-secrets-of-pope-s-empire.html - HIGH LIGHTS
Saturday, 4 August 2012 - 5:55 AM SL Time

One of the biggest of those stories concerned the attempt of a courageous bishop to come to grips with the Vatican`s finances. For two years Carlo Maria Vigan labored at the work, uncovering appalling scandal and waste. But in 2011, Cardinal Bertone gave Vigan his marching orders. Vigan wrote a top secret letter to the pope that was a cry of agony and rage.In the leaked letters, Vigan told the pope he could hardly believe what he discovered when he began combing through the Vatican`s accounts. He went to work slashing grossly inflated budgets for example, reducing the cost of the Vatican`s lifesize nativity scene in the center of St. Peter`s Square from $700,000 to $400,000 and saving more than $1 million in the maintenance of the gardens, which he funneled into renovating the pope`s central heating system. In all, Vigan claimed to have converted a deficit of some $10 million into a surplus of $43.5 million. But in the process, he made powerful enemies, and on March 22, 2011, Bertone curtly told Vigan that he was fired.

Lankan journos cut off from the athletes
Monday, 6 August 2012 - 8:31 PM SL Time

The Lankan journalists who are in London for the coverage of the 30th Olympic Games are in a spot of bother. They are almost cut off from the rest of the contingent who are at the games. Right now almost all the Lankan events are over. Only the marathon remains and that would come on the penultimate day of the games. Still the reporters are to get a single chance of meeting the Lankan athletes, barring the general meetings that all the reporters have after their respective events.

Most of the discussions with the officials are done over the phone and even the NOC official who are there to assist the journalists has visited the media centre only on three occasions.

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou - Poetry
Saturday, 11 August 2012 - 10:48 PM SL Time

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I`m not cute or built to suit a fashion model`s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I`m telling lies.
I say,
It`s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I`m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That`s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,

A Dream Within A Dream - Edgar Allan Poe
Saturday, 18 August 2012 - 4:32 PM SL Time

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-

Anglican/Catholic - Britian Don`t Allow Canadian Evangelist
Sunday, 19 August 2012 - 9:00 PM SL Time

A controversial Canadian evangelist who attracted a huge U.S. following in 2008 before his sudden fall from grace is now under fire in Britain ahead of a planned tour that one London-area MP claims could bring physical harm to unwitting Christians in search of a faith-healing experience.

Todd Bentley, a 36-year-old preacher from Abbotsford, B.C., gained international attention four years ago when the charismatic sermoniser heavily tattooed and a recovered drug addict led a series of old-time Christian revival meetings in Florida that drew as many as 8,000 people a night during the summer of 2008.
