Human Right Watch has called upon US President Barrack Obama to investigate allegations of detainee abuse authorized by former US President George W. Bush while stating that there should be no double standards on issues of human rights abuses, citing the US call for justice in Sri Lanka.
It claimed in a report published on its website that overwhelming evidence of torture has surfaced obliging current President Obama to order a criminal investigation into the allegations.

Tamil politician escapes Oslo massacre( by swimming away from the site with FOUR ezham youth)]
Sunday, 24 July 2011 - 1:25 AM SL Time
|
At least four Eezham Tamil youths, including a politician of the ruling Labour Party of Norway, Khamshajiny Gunaratnam, were amongst those who escaped the indiscriminate shooting by a lone gunman at the summer camp of the youth wing of the party (AUF) on Friday. The attack killed at least 84 people. A short-while before the gunman struck at the camp held at Ut ya island, a bomb blast ripped through the political enclave of central Oslo, killing at least seven people and injuring many more in the locality where government offices and ministries including the Prime Minister`s Office are located. Oslo police are questioning a 32-year-old ethnic Norwegian man, who is reportedly a right-wing extremist, in connection with both the attacks, described by Norwegian media as the worst episode of violence in the country since World War II.

`Dropping call for justice and independence is worst crime`
[Mon, 25 Jul 2011, 21:03 GMT]
Voicing on behalf of the present establishment in New Delhi, sections in the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) unnecessarily declaring against independence of Eezham Tamils and discouraging war crimes investigations are worst of the crimes committed not merely against Eezham Tamils but against human civilization, said Tamil national as well as Left political circles in the island and in the diaspora to TamilNet on Monday. The comments have come responding to TNA views expressed after its victory and during its campaign in the civic elections. TNA leader Sampanthan interpreted the victory as Tamil wish for solutions within `united Sri Lanka` and a confidential document circulated among `friends of the TNA` during the civic elections said that the war crimes investigations were actually directed against India than against Colombo, and hence Tamils should not pin hopes on them

The Most Boring Day in History?
Saturday, 30 July 2011 - 12:21 AM SL Time

By Joel McDurmon | Published: December 3, 2010
On November 18, an internet search and information technology group just analyzed 300 million historical facts against every date in history since 1900 and declared that April 11, 1954 was de facto the most boring date in history. Let me tell you why they`re so terribly wrong, and what every Christian, especially students, historians, and scholars, should learn from this episode.
The blog post sparked a brief flurry of interest, was turned into headlines by NPR and many others, and immediately resulted in a spike of internet searches for April 11, 1954 (thereby ensuring that November 18, 2010 will not bear the same opprobrium in any future declarations). Several comments and websites tried to poke holes in the declaration by looking for significant events associated with the date. By doing this, they all uncritically accepted the faulty standard of important people, places, and events as the true measure of meaning or importance of history. And beneath this lies the faulty assumption of what, exactly, is important, notable, or of interest, and how this is measured.

African Marimba

The instrument Marimba is a most amazing instrument.
Nothing fancy! Just a few old wood `paraala` of different lengths tied to a base with ropes.
No electronics-or even electrics even!
I`ve heard/seen this live here in SA and a few other places in Africa- playing tunes fro diverse parts of the world.
