Christianity envisions the individual as a duality - an immortal soul to be redeemed and a mortal body to be perished and despised. The biblical faith of resurrection might outwardly seem to foreshadow physical resuscitation of the material body in `flesh and blood`. Nevertheless, such a view of bodily resurrection contradicts the dualistic dogma of the Christianity - the body and the Self.
How is the quantum hologram related to biological functions? Already, quantum physicists Fritz London and Niels Bohr had suggested that quantum phenomena might be essential for life processes. Recently, a wealth of evidence has demonstrated the importance of quantum mechanics for biological systems and thus a new field of quantum biology is emerging. (E. Mitchell, Quantum Holography: A Basis for the Interface Between Mind and Matter, 2004). Cellphones a possible carcinogen (produce a rare and deadly cancer): Scientists
Wednesday, 1 June 2011 - 8:19 PM SL Time
|
Using cellphones may put people at greater risk for developing brain cancer, according to the World Health Organization, but more research is needed to be certain.
A group of 31 scientists with the International Agency for Research on Cancer found enough evidence in hundreds of published articles to classify radiofrequency electromagnetic fields generated by cellphones and other wireless devices as possibly carcinogenic to humans.
That puts cellphones in the same same category as engine exhaust, lead, coffee and chloroform.

New `Devil Worm` is Deepest-Living Animal (Darck black in colour)
Saturday, 4 June 2011 - 2:24 AM SL Time

A `devil worm` has been discovered miles under the Earth the deepest-living animal ever found, a new study says.
The new nematode species called Halicephalobus mephisto partly for Mephistopheles, the demon of Faustian legend suggests there`s a rich new biosphere beneath our feet.
Before the discovery of the signs of the newfound worm at depths of 2.2. miles (3.6 kilometers), nematodes were not known to live beyond dozens of feet (tens of meters) deep. Only microbes were known to occupy those depths organisms that, it turns out, are the food of the 0.5-millimeter-long worm.

Infighting in the UNP has assumed proportions where even joint Opposition action aimed at weakening the Rajapaksa government has been compromised. Political sources say in spite of the current crisis at the Katunayake Export Processing Zone (EPZ) giving the Opposition a rallying point, UNP big wigs are now fighting over how best to exploit the situation.
They say MP Sajith Premadasa is up in arms over an alleged bid to keep him away from a large scale UNP protest planned on June 9 against the police attack on protesting garment workers at Katunayake EPZ.

Quantum Holographic Energy Template or Biological Blueprint
The idea that there is a subtle body to guide the construction of human body is a popular subject of metaphysical and philosophical deliberations.

Buddhism and Mind (Positive Control of Mind) - Mind Matter and Vipassana
Friday, 10 June 2011 - 8:21 AM SL Time
|
The Buddha described everything as made from mind and matter. Both mind (citta) and matter (rupa) are not conceived as static things, but as a moving process.
The entire phenomenon of mind and matter is understood as vibrations, of a continuously ephemeral nature, arising and passing away. This is the ultimate truth (paramattha saccaparamattha sacca) of mind and matter - permanently impermanent nothing but a mass of tiny bubbles or ripples, disintegrating as soon as they arise (sabbo loko pakampitosabbo loko pakampito). Western Astro Physicists Are Buddhists.

Science, Buddhism, and Western Religions
Over at NPR`s 13.7 blog, astrophysicist Adam Frank discusses a recent Bangkok conference he attended on `Science and Buddhism.` Here`s a noteworthy excerpt from the blog:
The first wave of interest in `Science and Buddhism` began in the 1970s and focused on quantum mechanics. It was, to my mind, mostly silly. The emphasis was on how quantum physics, with its uncertainty principle and wave function collapse, was somehow embracing ancient truths of eastern religion.... The great problem with this train of thought was it assumed the answer it wanted to find in the first place. Quantum mechanics doesn`t say Buddhism is true. It doesn`t say anything. It`s a calculus that is open to many interpretations from the mundane (statistical approaches) to the mind-blowing (the many worlds interpretation). While finding proof that mind affects subatomic behavior would be thrilling, such proof simply does not exist.

One in three liberal studies teachers in Hong Kong believe it is acceptable for police to use torture when interrogating suspected criminals, a survey published Friday said.
The survey of 791 liberal studies teachers found that more than half of the respondents said they would be willing to give up human rights to ensure social stability and harmony.
Fifty-five per cent also said freedom from corporal punishment at the hands of their parents was not a child`s right.
Researchers at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, who carried out the study, concluded that negative attitudes and misconceptions identified in the survey could be the result of the government`s neglect of human rights education.

Tuesday, 14 June 2011 - 10:02 PM SL Time

Students in Britain have protested vociferously against government cuts in education funding, and rightly so.
But students in Sri Lanka, where state-funded higher education is also under attack, face an additional ordeal: compulsory `leadership and positive attitude development` of university entrants by the military. The scheme was introduced without warning by the ministry of higher education, and is being carried out by the ministry of defence.
It faced no fewer than five fundamental rights objections in the supreme court students and teachers pleaded that the rights of students would be infringed if they were forced to undergo a residential training programme in army camps without regard to their beliefs and cultural sensitivities. But the petitions were dismissed, and the programme was initiated in May

Lessons from Conversion by Burning Temples and Cutting the Head of Buddha Statues in Korea - Crusade Watch
Friday, 17 June 2011 - 9:02 PM SL Time

Over the last decade, a large number of Buddhist temples in Korea had been destroyed or damaged by fanatically devout Christians. More recently, the Buddha statues, regarded as the devil, were attacked and beheaded in the name of Jesus.
However, we stick to the case of Korean Buddhism, Buddhism in a country that is heavily affected by conversion, and from which possible situations that can occur to Buddhism in Vietnam are presented.
From many complex changes in history, for which Korean Buddhism is also partly responsible, Buddhism, at the present time, is a minority religion in Korea, ranking second to Christianity.

Over the next five years, he lived in a commune in Eureka, California. In the mid 1970s, he entered into a self-imposed three-year retreat in a meditation center in Massachusetts. Afterward, he traveled to England and became the first monk to be ordained in the forest tradition of Thailand at Cittaviveka Buddhist Center, West Sussex. The former MP noted that the North and the East should be converted to a single political administrative unit. We will campaign for such demands. Sri Lankan diplomats yesterday foiled an attempt by International Non Governmental Organizations to mislead a gathering at UN Church Centre by screening the documentary titled `Sri Lanka`s Killing Fields`.
They convinced the gathering of the inconsistencies and the biased narration of the documentary.
The screening of this documentary at UN Church Centre was sponsored by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the International Crisis Group who claimed that the documentary reinforces the findings of the Controversial Darusman Report. Sri Lanka`s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Palitha Kohona and Deputy Permanent Representative Major General Shavendra Silva proved that the Channel 4 video fiasco is a well-planned ploy to tarnish a country which succeeded in eradicating a deadly terrorist organization which held thousands of innocent civilians hostage.

mindfulness meditation
Saturday, 25 June 2011 - 3:52 AM SL Time

There are many immediate and long term benefits from mindfulness meditation such as a greater awareness of ones feelings in the body, a richer experience of reality, being put more in touch with what is real, an ability to recognise ones own thought processes, will-power, emotional tolerance, pain tolerance, satisfaction, happiness, relaxation, and the list goes on.
Mindfulness is also a great place for someone interested in meditation to begin because the practice is so pure and the mental abilities developed in mindfulness can be later applied to any other form of meditation. The skills developed from mindfulness meditation are universially applicable to all other forms of meditation, this includes: awareness, the ability to clear the mind, focus, breathing, sitting still comfortably and so on.

What if science fiction became science? - In Quantum Jumping Your Potential Is Infinite.
Monday, 27 June 2011 - 6:02 AM SL Time

Since the 1920`s, quantum physicists have been trying to make sense of an uncomfortable and startling possibility that an infinite number of alternate universes exist.
Leading scientists like Stephen Hawking, Michio Kaku and Neil Turok, all of whom are responsible for life-changing breakthroughs in the field of quantum physics, have all suggested the existence of multiple universes.
This jaw-dropping discovery was first made when, trying to pinpoint the exact location of an atomic particle, physicists found it was virtually impossible. It had no single location. In other words, atomic particles have the ability to simultaneously exist in more than one place at a time. The only explanation for this is that particles don`t only exist in our universe They can spark into existence in an infinite number of parallel universes as well. And although these particles come to being and change in synchronicity, they are all slightly different.

Geoffrey Van Orden heading a group in the EU Parliament said, we regret that we are having this debate today. I suspect that it has been prompted by extremist elements in the Tamil diaspora - the same people who have helped to sustain the LTTE terrorist campaign over many years, through political activities and funding, often from the proceeds of crime. Instead of trying to bring together the peoples of Sri Lanka, there are those that seek to continue a campaign of hatred and division. They see this Darusman Report as a weapon in this campaign and just want to put the SL government in the dock. This approach is malicious and counter productive.

`That is the end of their reign as a world superpower` - More debt interest Than the Defence expenditure
Tuesday, 28 June 2011 - 10:58 PM SL Time

`That is the end of their reign as a world superpower`, so says Professor Niall Ferguson of Harvard University.
How can anyone, even a Harvard academic, say such a thing? Isn`t that just a wee bit `too simple` of a math equation to define the rise and fall of all the great powers that ever existed on Earth?
Perhaps. But he might have a point that is worth considering as we here in the US barrel down the road towards overspending and explosive debt taken by, in order: Spain in the 15th century France in the 17th century England from the 18th through the 19th century and then the US in the 20th century.
