Why Sarkozy Went to War on Libya.
Monday, 4 April 2011 - 4:35 AM SL Time
|
The French president spent five years as Minister of the Interior, building the image of a radical crime and immigration fighter (in areas related to people of Muslim origin). Apparently Sarkozy wants to repeat the political strategy of the 2007 campaign when he sought to follow the advice of Karl Rove (Bush strategist). Instead of just trying to build a majority, it is more effective to promote controversial issues such as immigration, identity, crime and Islam, which may provoke the fragmentation of the opposition.

Third World War to Begin During the Olympic 2014
Monday, 4 April 2011 - 11:05 PM SL Time
|
On March 24, well-known Russian astrologists, shamans and parapsychologists gathered to discuss forecasts for near and distant future.
`The phenomenon that they call the world financial crisis, and which, as they believe, is now ending, was not the financial crisis per se. It was just an omen of the imminent crisis. The real financial crisis is going to take place in the future,` astrologist Aleksei Kolov said in the beginning of the meeting.
Eclipses will cause a lot of trouble this year, Globa warned. By the moment of the latest one, which is going to take place on December 10, armed conflicts will occur on the Balkans. Terrorists will plant a bomb at the Nobel Prize award ceremony.

Ultimate Reality in Near Death Experiences and The Tibetan Book of the Dead
Most believe at the moment of death the person dies and the Universe goes on, but could it be that the Universe dies and the person goes on?
Yes, this is very much my experience my universe died as I awoke to the true nature of reality. This was my awakening after life. Even though I did not die, I left my body and this world to experience the ultimate reality, and this has given me the ability to share this story. My single motivation for writing this book, Awakening After Life has been to testify to this absolute reality the Truth beyond what we can see with our eyes. It does exist, even though some of us do not see it because we have been cut off from its source. However, sooner or later we will all have to experience it because we are all in it.

Patients with temporary surgical implant able to control computers by thoughts
Saturday, 9 April 2011 - 9:22 PM SL Time
|
08.04.2011 | Source: Pravda.Ru
US researchers over at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have laid claim that patients who had a temporary surgical implant, are able to make use of regions in the brain which control speech to `talk` to a computer.
This unique implant enables patients to move a cursor around the computer screen through the power of thought, although making a particular sound will work as well if that`s your cup of tea.
According to researcher Eric C. Leuthardt, `There are many directions we could take this, including development of technology to restore communication for patients who have lost speech due to brain injury or damage to their vocal cords or airway,`We want to see if we can not just detect when you`re saying dog, tree, tool or some other word, but also learn what the pure idea of that looks like in your mind,` says Dr Leuthardt.

MATHATA THITHA Stops CANCER - Excess Alcohol Cause CANCER DEATHS.

Alcohol causes cancer, British scientists reports
At least 13,000 cancers in the UK every year are the result of people`s drinking habits, according to one of the largest studies ever carried out into diet and cancer.
The research, carried out across eight European countries including the UK, has found that thousands of cancers could be prevented if men had the equivalent of no more than two drinks a day and women had no more than one.
Nearly half of the alcohol-related cancers in the UK - nearly 6,000 - were related to the mouth and throat. Alcohol is a key cause of cancer of the mouth, oesophagus, voicebox and pharynx, according to The Guardian.

The Man Who Predicted the Tsunami

After studying ancient rocks, a Japanese geologist warned that a disaster was imminent to no avail.
The giant tsunami that assaulted northern Japan`s coast surprised just about everyone. But Masanobu Shishikura was expecting it. The thought that came to mind, he says, was `yappari,` a Japanese word meaning roughly, `Sure enough, it happened.`
`It was the phenomenon just as I had envisioned it,` says the 41-year-old geologist, who has now become the Japanese Cassandra.

Between the Monster and the Saint, By Richard Holloway
Wednesday, 13 April 2011 - 4:35 AM SL Time
|
Between the Monster and the Saint is an eloquent disquisition on humankind`s self-division between our finer and our baser inclinations. It covers serious ground: morality, psychology, art and, most centrally, the role and nature of religious belief. As an apostate Christian, and former bishop of the Scottish Episcopal Church, Holloway is well placed to offer his views on the `wearisome condition of humanity`. He addresses this big topic with a refreshing directness which makes for agreeable reading. But what gives the book its charm, is that it is also the record of the psychological and spiritual development of an enormously interesting man.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STRESS AND BREATHING - Breathing Awareness (Anapana - Sathi) Is the Solution

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STRESS AND BREATHING
You may be wondering what stress has to do with breathing or what breathing has to do with stress. This is both simple and yet complex. We all breathe and our breathing pattern varies along with how we actually use our lung capacity. Many people pay no attention to their respiration system and believe that they breathe correctly, it cannot be changed, and we all do it the same way. Breathing is more than just the exchange of air it is our means of survival, our living! Thankfully if we need to, we can change how we breathe and there are a number of techniques one can learn.

On New Year`s Eve, Ann stood up in the local pub and said that it was time to get ready.
At the stroke of midnight, she wanted every husband to be standing next to the one person who made his life worth living.
As the clock struck - the bartender was almost crushed to death.
On New Year`s Eve, Peter was in no shape to drive, so he sensibly left his van in the car park and walked home.

Just Like Sudan, Libya to Be Devided, Easy Access to Oil Resources
Saturday, 16 April 2011 - 4:06 AM SL Time
|
The debates raging at the highest levels of the US National Security establishment and NATO over the military `stalemate` in Libya conceal an even more competitive effort on the ground in Libya, by petroleum interests keen to divide up the territory to ensure access to the country`s vast oil resources, writes Horace Campbell.
The raging debates at the highest levels of the US National Security establishment and various interests within NATO over the current military `stalemate` in Libya conceals an even more competitive effort on the ground in Libya by petroleum interests who are keen on dividing up the territory to ensure access to the vast oil resources of Libya. At the forefront of this aggressive partitioning effort is the French military, political and oil establishment that has not only recognised the transitional government in Benghazi but has also been the most pushy on advancing military options even in the face of opposition from other NATO members such as Germany, Greece, Spain and Turkey. Although in public the US military and the opportunistic force of the US Africa Command are supporting the military option, in Congressional testimony and in press reports in the United States, the secretary of defense, Robert Gates has stated that any oresident who would commit ground troops to a place such as Libya ought to have his head examined. Gates has also noted that the events in Libya were `a real formula for insecurity.` These comments were restated by the `New York Times` in the same paragraph where the paper stated that `Mr. Obama`s decision to join the military intervention in Libya may well be judged a failure if the initial result is a muddle or a partition of the country.`

Renewable Energy is more Economical - Nigeria - Why Not Sri Lanka ???
Tuesday, 19 April 2011 - 4:36 AM SL Time
|
If Nigerians embrace the renewable energy solutions, they will save up to one trillion naira annually out of the total amount spent burning fuels for electricity generation.
It was estimated that Nigerians expended about three trillion naira last year alone burning fuels to generate power in the country.
The country`s epileptic power supply which remains below 3500 mega-watts for years, has left the citizenry with no options than to generate their power through fuel-powered generators.
Rajan Menon of Simba Group said yesterday in Abuja that the use of solar energy and inverters among other renewable energy sources will help eliminate the waste of burning fuel unnecessarily.

Meditation and Sathipatthana to Develop INTUITION (Sahaja Budhdhiya ?)
Wednesday, 20 April 2011 - 3:04 AM SL Time
|
Developing intuition requires daily meditation includes a vegan diet and works best in a remote setting.
Fortunately, it is possible to develop intuition in easy ways without changing anything in one`s daily routine.
Intuition is the awareness of cognitive messages, auditory information, visual images, and physical sensations that provide meaningful information about past, present, or future realities. Some consider intuition a form of extrasensory perception (ESP).
Everyone has a sense of intuition, but it is drowned out by daily demands on time, energy, and senses. Meditation is just one way of focusing attention on intuition by limiting distraction and allowing the mind to become more aware of the self and of intuitive information. For those who have no time or cannot sufficiently eliminate distraction in their lives to meditate, the strategies below offer an alternative way to develop and strengthen intuition through meditation.

LTTE And Churches Protect Each Other - FOR THIVYA
Saturday, 23 April 2011 - 4:43 AM SL Time
|
The history of LTTE reveals a discernible pattern in its relations with religious institutions: it has ruthlessly attacked and killed Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists but hardly ever touched Christians. It has never confronted the Churches the way it has taken on the other three main religionists.
In fact, it has had a very cozy relationship with the Churches. Though the LTTE has raided and taken over Hindu Temples by force in Western countries it has never dared to touch a single Christian church run by the Jaffna Tamils abroad. The Christian churches are considered to be richer than the Hindu Temples. Nevertheless, the fear of severe backlash from the dominant Christian governments and Christian communities abroad has prevented the LTTE from grabbing Christian Churches.

The rise of US Evangelism as a Force in Global Affairs.

Militant Christianity - Evangelical Christianity: Devils in high places
In his explosive new book The Armies Of God: A Study In Militant Christianity, British-born, Malaysia-based academic Iain Buchanan blows the lid off a subject that most scholars and journalists tend to shy away from: the rise of US evangelism as a force in global affairs.
His book looks at how some of the powerful evangelical outfits operate often as US government proxies in countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and of course, India, and the disastrous effects this has had on the relationship between the Christian West and non-Christian cultures, religious communities and nations. He also unmasks the role played by the seemingly secular `success motivation` industry, and its leadership gurus such as Zig Ziglar and Ken Blachard, who are not only management experts but also conscious agents of US-style Christian evangelism. Excerpts from an interview:

The Expert Panel Report: What Next?
Tuesday, 26 April 2011 - 2:00 AM SL Time
|
So many things have been written on the Report of the Expert Panel appointed by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon. Should I litter the already crowded discourse space with another piece? I thought I should not do so unless I had a peculiar dream in which a small vendor friend of mine on the Kandy pavement who passed away about six months ago posed me an apt question. His question read like this: `Had the war against the LTTE reached its last phase in May 2011 rather than in May 2009, what kind of response would Sri Lanka have expected from the US, UK and France?` This counterfactual question tries to situate Sri Lanka in the current world political context that is characterized by the simmering Arab revolution and imperialist intervention. With the expert report, the spokespersons of the Sri Lankan government have come forward to add two nice words into their usually barren political discourse, namely, anti-imperialism and national reconciliation. On the other hand, the TNA leader has expressed that he and the TNA welcome the expert report and agree with its content. However, he has not explicitly stated that he and the TNA agree with the comment of the report on the LTTE position, though politically incorrect is understandable and I will come to that issue later.

Believe it or not, male whales have trendy tunes alike humans - in fact, they modify their songs to differ from their rivals during courtship, that results in the new tunes every year, a new study says. Researchers, led by the University of Queensland, have found that male humpback whales `change th eir tune` every year during their migration across the Pacific, the Current Biology journal reported.
The study has revealed a striking pattern of cultural change over a large distance, with the rate, scale and even repetition unmatched in non-human culture.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation planned to air The Chaser`s Royal Wedding Commentary on Friday, promising viewers a mocking take on what is expected to be the biggest global television event in years.
The network is using the BBC`s live feed of the nuptials but its plan to make fun of the big day is over after new restrictions were reportedly imposed by Clarence House, the private office of William`s father Prince Charles.

Refugee board member chides border agency for broad definition of Tamil Tiger
By James Keller, The Canadian Press
VANCOUVER The federal government`s definition of which migrants aboard the MV Sun Sea are members of the Tamil Tigers is so broad that, if it was accepted, ongoing hearings to determine membership in the terrorist group would be meaningless, says an adjudicator with the Immigration and Refugee Board.
On Friday, Marc Tessler chided a lawyer for the Canada Border Services Agency during a hearing for a Sri Lankan refugee claimant who is accused of being a member of the Tigers, also known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, or LTTE.

A leadership struggle among the Sri Lankan Tamil expatriate community has diminished hopes of an independent Tamil state in SriLanka.
Saturday, 30 April 2011 - 10:19 PM SL Time
|
Attempts to map out the future course of Sri Lanka`s Tamil community and elect a leadership from among its diaspora have proved disastrous, writes NEVILLE DE SILVA
WHEN Sri Lanka`s Tamil Tigers were militarily defeated and its leadership decimated almost two years ago, Tamils abroad were shocked into disbelief.
Thousands of Tamils, especially the huge expatriate community, had been fed on the myth of Tiger military invincibility, much of it propagated by Western governments, scholars and military men who claimed Sri Lanka was engaged in an unwinnable war against a dedicated and well-prepared enemy.
