(Colombo Lankapuvath) Sri Lanka is a nation that got Independence in 1948 and full freedom in 2009 May. One would ask how come one nation has two types of concepts.
Well, Sri Lanka is an exclusive island nation which completely wiped out the menace of brutal terrorism. One third of this land was dominated by those deadly terrorists.
That land was recaptured and terrorism was uprooted. The country got true freedom on that day. Here, the architect who gave true freedom to this land, Commander-in-Chief of All Forces and Executive President Mahinda Rajapaksa taking a walk along the beaches of the Jaffna peninsula which was once the terrain of Velupillai Prabhakaran.

Toronto`s Tamil community have taken it to the streets again.
About 200 people marched outside the Sri Lankan Embassy on St. Clair Ave. W. between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday protesting the treatment of their fellow Tamils in their homeland.
Our people are still in a very bad situation, said Prab Alliah, 50, Ontario chairman of the National Council of Canadian Tamils. In Sri Lnaka (Tamils) are not living as humans, they live as animals,
Tamil protesters brought the city streets to a halt many times in the spring of 2009 in an effort to convince the Canadian government to stop the war in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan ire on Independence Day in London

When a group of Tamil expatriates began protesting outside the Sri Lankan High Commission in London on Friday Feb 4 (Sri Lanka`s Independence Day), officials inside made a false call to the police claiming the building was under attack, British police sources said Monday. A police squad rushed to the site, but found peaceful demonstrators chanting slogans and carrying placards and Tamil Eelam flags. Embassy officials later remonstrated on the street with police as well as shouting abuse at the protestors and taking photographs of them, protest leaders said.

We never expected this video to become so popular. This was just our latest video of Nina in her day to day life. We are not political pundits. The information Nina is sharing here comes from an Asahi Shimbun Newspaper article about the situation in Egypt. Nina saw the picture in the newspaper and asked about it and her mothers_day.jsp' class=black>mother explained the content of the article to her in Japanese. Then, the next day, Nina saw a similar picture in my English newspaper and started to explain what she had learned in English, so I grabbed my video camera.

AUSTRALIA: Critics wrote this team off in 2008 when surprise retirements of Mcgrath and Gilcrist took place however the team has come along very well since then with a new pace battery and trademark batsmen Aussies will certainly settle for nothing less than a win however consistency is becoming a problem to this team, they can no longer withstand pressure situations.

It is colonial mentality to expect that others on their own will give us justice and solutions. We should seek them on our own. For well over 60 years the Eezham Tamils were waiting for political justice and now for nearly two years they have been waiting for justice on war crimes. If they are not forthcoming, the younger generation should work for them with the same spirit of united uprising that was seen before May 2009, was the opinion expressed in a panel discussion on Monday by new generation politico-legal activists, Rajeev Sreetharan in USA, Lathan Suntharalingam in Switzerland and Sam Pari in Australia. The activists who are engaging directly with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in seeking legal action against Palitha Kohona, said that such cases are only the beginning, but the real focus should be on emancipation and independence of Eezham Tamils.

The Concept of Tamil homeland in Sri Lanka is evidently a myth. Because of this mythical ideology, thousands of lives destroyed and communal harmony deteriorated. After 32 years of bloody terrorism, Sri Lanka is now slowly recovering. Although the war is over, this mythical concept still needs to be eliminated for a long lasting peace.
