Dutugemunu conquers Elara
Tuesday, 1 February 2011 - 12:23 PM SL Time
|
After taking 32 enemy forts, Dutugemunu arrived in Kahalagama with his army, 30 kilometers south-east of Anuradapura and 16 kilometers north-west of Ritigala. Dutugemunu wanted to avoid war inside the city of Anuradapura. He decided to stay in Kahalagama until Elara came out to meet him. The Tamil usurper would arrive there in two days.
Elara`s situation looked promising. He still had 20 south Indian generals, and 30,000 south Indian soldiers. Digajantu, Elara`s best general, was the greatest Tamil general at the time. Many Sinhala patriots were frightened even to hear his name. Dutugemunu`s original force of 11,000 had suffered a lot of casualties, especially in the battle for Vijithapura. Elara was well aware of this and believed that he could win. However, Digajantu was not very sure. He obviously felt that something could go wrong at the last minute. He called for reinforcements from South India by asking his nephew Balluka there to recruit a force of at least 60,000 South Indian troops. Elara, in his haste, decided to engage Dutugemunu without waiting for the reinforcements.

The defeat of Balluka
Friday, 4 February 2011 - 12:43 PM SL Time
|
Balluka invades- Balluka, nephew of the slain Tamil general Digajantu, landed with his 60,000 South Indian soldiers on the day Elara`s body was being cremated. Dutugemunu was taken aback: he hardly had any military resources left and his surviving army volunteers had been demobilised. They were back in their villages, sharing their war experience with their family and villagers. Many of his giants were either dead or in hospital. Surviving records mention only Phussadeva and TheraputhAbhaya, which could mean that the rest had laid down their lives for the country. Balluka came to know of the death of his uncle Digajantu and decided to take Lanka by force as the way Elara did. He advanced unopposed, burning the villages, and killing the Sinhala villagers in anger. By the time Dutugemunu rallied his volunteers, Balluka had reached the north gate of the city of Anuradapura itself. Fortunately, Balluka, unable to understand the lack of resistance, paused. That gave enough time for Dutugemunu to re-organise his army and make them ready to protect their country once again.

Germanification of Tamil women in Canada- dedicated to Manjula Rohn nee Selvarajah aka Thivya =)
Sunday, 6 February 2011 - 12:34 PM SL Time
|
Ladies and gentlemen, the Germanification of Tamil women in Canada is not a new phenomenon. It has been happening pretty much since We Thamizh migrated to scrub the commodes of their white masters in the west.
Tamil women seek out their white masters in this way and avoid Sinhaloid men like the plague because Sinhaloids are all worthless low caste scum when compared to We Thamizh and especially compared to the wondrous white masters of said We Thamizh. Most Tamil women even avoid Tamil men for this reason. Since Canada is a melting pot of cultures from all over the world, it is not just Germanification that Tamil women are subjected to but also Anglification, Francofication, Spanishification, Scandinavification, Italinification, Russianification, Dutchification, defecation, etc. But since we`re talking about Manju today, let us focus on GERMANIFICATION.
