Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Iran`s military shot down a U.S. reconnaissance drone in the country`s east, PressTV reported, citing an unidentified military official.
The unmanned RQ-170 Sentinel aircraft suffered minimal damage in the attack, the state-run Iranian television station said. The Lockheed Martin Corp RQ-170 is a stealth drone.
White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said he had no immediate comment on the report.
Tensions with Iran have increased since the U.S. called for new trade sanctions in the wake of a report by United Nations atomic energy inspectors. The Nov. 8 report drew on credible intelligence to argue that Iran`s efforts to build a nuclear bomb may be ongoing.

The Lessons learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) has called for a joint declaration of apology from leaders of all sides to the country`s citizens who have suffered as a result of the 30 year long conflict.
`Leaders of all sides should reach out to each other in humility and make a joint declaration, extending an apology to innocent citizens who fell victim to this conflict, as a results of the collective failure of the political leadership on all sides to prevent such a conflict from emerging,` the LLRC says in its report which was presented to Parliament yesterday.

is revealed that the suspect who killed a British national by shooting at a hotel at Madilla in Tangalle is the Chairman of Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Sampath Chandra Pushpa. The reason for the clash that caused the death of the British national is a clash between the management of the hotel and a group led by Sampath Chandra Pushpa. The foreigner had attempted to settle the clash.
According to the latest information it is revealed that personnel of Rajapaksa private staff who are deployed for various duties of the Rajapaksa family including security at Carlton House used to have meals and liquor from hotels nearby and leave without paying their bills. The group including Sampath Pushpa had visited the hotel yesterday (24th) night and when they tried to make use of their political power a clash had broken out.

(Lanka-e-News -27.Dec.2011,11.55PM) Kumara Alagiyawanna, the convener of the freedom for Fonseka national campaign told Lanka e news that, it is not Gen. Fonskea who should ask for pardon from the President, rather it should be the other way about -the President must ask for pardon from General Fonseka , his family and the people of the country for the injustice perpetrated on Gen. Fonseka, the war hero.
Alagiyawanna further stated that , the President ought to release the General Fonseka unconditionally for it is he who vanquished a terrorist outfit which was once thought as invincible , whereby he brought the 30 year old cruel war to an end . Secret and conspiratorial discussions of the President are of no avail , he added.
