Wayamba Hope To Pull Off A Few Surprises
Friday, 3 September 2010 - 1:21 PM SL Time
|
If you walk around the non-descript Tamil Union ground in a quiet corner of Colombo, you`ll see a bunch of young guys sweating it out in the hot sun.
There`s every possibility that you`ll dismiss them as a local team getting ready for a city tournament, but that`s far from the truth. It`s Wayamba Elevens and they are quietly preparing themselves for the Champions League in South Africa. There`s no hype or hoopla about the way this team goes about their job. They don`t have the stars of the IPL biggies, but it`s a quiet confidence in their own abilities that characterises the Lankan champions.

Bandarawela National Holiday Resort

If you happen to be on a holiday in Bandarawela or on your way to Nuwara Eliya via the B`wela - Welimada Road, then you should not miss to visit this beautiful place.
Ideally located, it is a real treat for nature lovers and a good camera in possession is a must. However, I did not capture these photos with an advanced camera otherwise a picture (No. 09) like the area called Kahathawela with the Temple in the background would have come out much better than this.
Anyway, I still managed to capture to a good extent and wanted to share these photos with all of you.

Ready For Murali: Jayawardene
Tuesday, 7 September 2010 - 11:02 AM SL Time
|
Johannesburg, Sept 5:
For all those who believe that the Twenty20 format is for the musclemen, those powerhouses who can clear the front leg out of the way and send the ball into orbit, here`s a conundrum: Mahela Jayawardene. A calm, collected player, all the artistry lies in his exquisite wrist-work.
His ability to memorise the field-placing while batting just adds to the woes of the opponents while his awareness of the field helps him manoeuvre the ball into gaps. And then he has all the options to go for the big hits.

Why Is Sri Lanka Cricket Silent?
Wednesday, 8 September 2010 - 11:08 AM SL Time
|
Questions have been asked as to why Sri Lanka Cricket has maintained complete silence over the alleged misbehavior of three Sri Lankan cricketers during a tour of Zimbabwe more than three months ago?
Speculation is rife that the three players allegedly brought serious disrepute to the country during the tour, but SLC seems to have turned a blind eye on the whole issue.
The board belatedly said that they will look into the matter and punish the offenders, but there seem to have been no inquiry made into the allegations. By delaying an inquiry, SLC is only leaving room for speculation, which is increasing by the day.
