Canada and our beloved queue jumping tamil refugee seekers..........economic refugees who think there is one process for them and another for everyone else....
Friday, 13 August 2010 - 1:22 AM SL Time

The expected arrival of a second cargo ship ferrying Sri Lankan Tamils to Canada exposes a gap in our country`s ability to deter terrorists and people-smugglers from exploiting the refugee system as an easy mode of entry. While Canada has an international obligation to give every asylum seeker a fair hearing, it must also be able to maintain the integrity of the refugee system, and to protect its borders and prevent potential terrorists, criminals and people-smugglers from establishing a presence here.

What Canada Can Learn From Australia on Dealing with Tamil `Refugees who want to game the system`............
Friday, 13 August 2010 - 10:46 PM SL Time

No one can say the MV Sun Sea took the Canadian government by surprise. Unlike the Ocean Lady, which turned up off B.C.`s coast in October with a cargo of 76 young Sri Lankan men scarcely a week after officials learned of its existence, Ottawa began tracking this Thai cargo ship, which arrived yesterday in B.C. waters, more than a month ago.

With its freight of illegal immigrants, the ship was headed for Australia it rerouted and set course for B.C. And yet, Canada, as evidenced by the fact the ship is now in Canadian custody, and its hundreds of passengers about to be absorbed into our refugee and immigration system, could do not a single thing to stop it.

Canadian Prime Minister Speaks Out..........and he is not reflecting the views of people like Thiviya and DLADV
Wednesday, 18 August 2010 - 4:29 AM SL Time

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. Ottawa `will not hesitate to strengthen the laws` in order to tackle the `trend` of would-be refugees arriving in Canada via people-smuggling ships, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Tuesday afternoon.

`Let me be clear. We are a land of refuge, but at the same time, I think Canadians are pretty concerned when a whole boat of people comes not through any normal application process, not through any normal arrival channel and just simply lands,` Harper said at an event in Mississauga, Ont.

The Slumdog aka Gooboy aka natu rilava aka chenaigoo wants to integrate the SL tamils withe 70 million tamils in India............and here they are in Canada, jumping the queue to get in....obviously the SL tamils want nothing to do with the `nadians.....
Thursday, 19 August 2010 - 9:02 AM SL Time

The Tamil migrants from the MV Sun Sea continue to be detained until their identities can be confirmed something that will have to wait until Canadian immigration authorities sift through a jumble of the migrants` documents and belongings inside two U-Haul trucks.

When the 492 migrants disembarked from the MV Sun Sea last week, their identification documents and belongings were stored inside the two U-Hauls, but no record was made connecting the documents with their particular owners.

The process is under way to match the documents with the individuals, said lawyer Naima Karimullah, who represents the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), during Immigration and Refugee Board hearings Wednesday.

5 out of 6 Canadians want the Tamil Queue Jumpers Sent Home..........so despite all the BS that DVLADV and Thiviya has been spouting about the degree of acceptance, looks like the facts don`t support it........

OTTAWA - Send them home and use the Navy if necessary is the message coming from a new poll on the Tamil boat people issue.

By a margin of five to one, Canadians say the government should reject the almost 500 would-be refugees from Sri Lanka who arrived last week.

The Leger Marketing poll of 1,500 people, released exclusively to QMI Agency, was conducted from Aug. 2 to Aug. 4 as the ship travelled towards the British Columbia coast.

Asked which statement best described their own opinion on what should be done with the ship, which may include members of the banned Tamil Tiger terrorist group, 60% agreed with the statement: `They should be turned away - the boat should be escorted back to Sri Lanka by the Canadian Navy.`

Here is More Support for the Tamil Queue Jumpers...........

How bad is life back in Sri Lanka for Tamil refugees?

Are they tortured? Do they have a well-founded fear of persecution?

Are things so bloody bad over there that we have to let a boatload of them into Canada, just because they showed up?

That`s what we`re told by immigration lawyers, bleeding heart politicians and fashionable journalists who don`t believe Canada should have any borders at all.

A Plan for Fixing Canada`s Refugee System......thanks to the tamils for highlighting the need to do so...

Lorne Gunter: Two clear steps for fixing our refugee system

As many observers have pointed out, our courts deserve much of the blame for the way Canada has become a patsy among asylum seekers: By endlessly expanding the legal protections enjoyed by non-citizens, judges have made it difficult for authorities to remove bogus refugee claimants from our shores.

But notwithstanding such judicial activism, federal authorities still retain within their power two actions that could do a great deal to discourage false refugee claimants, if only authorities were stern enough to use them. First, they can and should reject any asylum claimant who returns home before being granted Canadian citizenship even those who return only briefly for vacations or family visits and, second, they should deport faster those who have exhausted their appeals.

.The four men, Sri Lankan Tamils, say they are in Thailand on vacation, though they rarely venture outside their one-room apartment on the outskirts of the Thai capital. They sit together on the bed, endlessly watching old movies in English and Thai that they barely understand.
