Are the LTTE leaders that `apparently` tried to surrender with white flags, TRAITORS??
Thursday, 8 July 2010 - 7:21 AM SL Time
|
What`s the difference between Karuna and these supposed LTTE leaders who tried to surrender during the final stages of the war?
If Karuna is a traitor, then the likes of P. Nadesan, Pulidevan and Ramesh all must be traitors as well!
Karuna actually did more for the LTTE than these others combined, and when he surrendered, he wanted to continue to lead his people, hence joined the democratic path... The LTTE leaders on the other hand, hung around while thousands of LTTE cadres were getting killed protecting them, and then at the last bit of the war, `Supposedly` tried to surrender to save their own lives...

BIRMINGHAM: Test vice-captain Michael Clarke says batsmen all over the world will rejoice in the news that rubbery-wristed spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is calling it quits. The 38-year-old Sri Lankan will retire from Tests after the home series opener against India in Galle starting on July 18.
``I think a lot of batters around the world will be very happy they don`t have to face him any more,`` Clarke said.

Make UDRS mandatory - Kumar Sangakkara
Tuesday, 13 July 2010 - 9:43 AM SL Time
|
Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lanka captain, has asked the ICC to step in and make the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) mandatory for all Test series, following India`s refusal to use it for the upcoming series. Sangakkara also said the ICC should perhaps pay for the technology needed to implement the system successfully, because it is something the ICC wants to introduce and the broadcasters have usually paid exorbitant monies for their rights and might not be able to afford extra costs for sophisticated tools such as Hot Spot.

ACT gov. swoops on indian slums in Canberra
Friday, 16 July 2010 - 8:45 AM SL Time
|
A Canberra landlord is accused of cramming up to 86 Indian migrants into four rat-infested houses in the northern suburbs and authorities fear he may be running more slum boarding houses in the city.
The ACT Government alleges the tenants of the boarding houses, all Indian migrants including a baby less than 12 months old, were each being charged up to $150 a week in rent plus a $1000 monthly ``utilities charge`` for access to running water, a single toilet and electricity. The tenants were being moved to emergency shelter last night after the houses were condemned as not fit for human habitation.

Prabhakharan`s planned escape route out of Vanni, could have potentially worked
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 - 7:21 AM SL Time
|
Prabhakharan`s much publicized escape route out of the besieged Vanni region during the height of conflict last year, could have technically worked!
The photo attached is of a screaming and terrified donkey being air-lifted over a beach in Russia! The stunt took place for advertising purposes, but the same air-lift process was suggested by tamil intellects , to get the besieged Prabhakharan out of Vanni, during the final stages of the war... And it could have work technically, as this poor donkey has proven

Sir Don Bradman at P Sara Oval - the only Asian ground that he played at...
Tuesday, 27 July 2010 - 10:26 AM SL Time
|
P Sara Oval, the venue for the third Test of this series, is the only ground in Asia where Don Bradman played. He did so on a 20-yard pitch. In Brightly Fades the Don, Jack Fingleton writes: It is possible one of her male assistants (the round had a lady curator) measured the pitch and not she. The Australian batsmen found the going rather tough in the morning. It was hard to get the ball away, and it was Ian Johnson who discovered largely why.
He had his doubts about the pitch, measured it and found it was only twenty yards. From that point onwards the Australians bowled from two yards behind the crease and everybody was happy.

Can you spot Paul Yarrow? He`s the tubby man who`s the bane of TV reporters
Friday, 30 July 2010 - 7:57 AM SL Time
|
PAUL Yarrow`s face and physique are more suited to radio - but that has not stopped him in his relentless pursuit of a glittering TV career.
The stocky balding man has so far appeared on British TV more than 100 times this year, in news reports for BBC1, ITV, Channel 4, Sky News and Al Jazeera. The trouble is none of the channels wanted him there, the Daily Mail reports.
Dressed in his wrinkled sweater, Mr Yarrow stands - or wanders - wordlessly behind the reporters with a quizzical look on his face.
