REALITY SLAP on the face of WAR CRIMINALS....
Friday, 3 December 2010 - 5:09 PM SL Time

A prestigious British debating society said on Wednesday it had cancelled a speech by Sri Lanka`s president Mahinda Rajapaksa after planned protests against his visit raised security concerns.
Tamil groups in Britain and their supporters planned a big demonstration in Oxford on Thursday to coincide with Rajapaksa`s talk at the Oxford Union.
They were due to protest alleged human rights abuses during Sri Lanka`s threedecade war against Tamil separatist rebels, won by the army last year.

One more JOURNALIST murdered & killed by Stinky racists....
Saturday, 4 December 2010 - 6:08 PM SL Time
|
The female Tamil journalist, Isaipriya alias Shoba (27), was killed during the final stages of the war by the troops belonging to 53rd Division of the Sri Lankan Army, in an execution-style murder at an unknown location in the island`s northern battle-zone. The mutilated naked body of the rebel media specialist was showed in a shocking video footage aired by British TV, Channel 4 recently.
Sri Lanka`s Ministry of Defence releasing a long list of names of LTTE leaders killed on May 18, 2009 - the final day of the war - said on June 21, 2009 that Lieutenant Colonel Isaipriya was among the top rebel leaders killed by the troops of the 53rd Division and claimed that she was attached to the Communications and Publicity Wing of the rebels. However, the Channel-4 video footage has now clearly established the fact that she was killed in an execution-style murder with hands tied behind and not in `fierce clashes.`

World has taken to SLAPPING singlecelled at will.....

Call it a result of hubris, blinding, stupefying hubris. The Oxford fiasco need not have happened, if President Rajapaksa did not have an insatiable appetite for such inane encomiums as, `The Leader who Conquered the World` or if his ministers, officials and other hangers-on were a little less inclined to lie, cheat and exaggerate in order to please their Lord and Master.
President Rajapaksa and his administration are not popular outside of Beijing, Islamabad and Male. Several recent incidents point to this less than palatable truth. It was a massive and spontaneous snub, from which the correct conclusion should have been drawn. Either make yourself more acceptable to that part of the international community interested in Sri Lanka or stop trying to play a role on the world or even the regional stage. One cannot scream invectives at the West, literally from rooftops, organise unruly demonstration outside Western embassies and act like a tin-pot dictator in a fit of temper or sulks and still expect to be treated as a welcome visitor in Washington, London, Paris or Berlin.

Ignorance of looming threat of UN backed war crime trial
President Rajapakse was forced to return home from his bitter trip to London in disgrace amidst real possibility of being arrested in the UK the first victim on whom the issuing of arrest warrant was imminent for alleged war crimes was one of the Major Generals who was in the President`s entourage. The criminal law set in motion by the British Tamil Forum (BTF) would have been a certain success if not for the leakage of information on the judicial process initiated by them, that allowed Presidential convoy hurriedly return home in one piece. Panic and fear psychosis experienced by the high profile delegation was such that they were forced to plead the British Government`s mercy for permission to take the aircraft of the Sri Lankan Air Line, all the way to terminal 5 from where the President boarded the aircraft avoiding confrontation with BTF

KUDOS to India for standing upto China on HR abuses....Now SPEAK UP for Eelam tamils...
Thursday, 9 December 2010 - 5:18 PM SL Time
|
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, needs to be complimented for standing firm to China and refusing to be bullied by it into not attending the Oslo function on December 10,2010, in honour of Liu Xiaobao, a Chinese political dissident in jail in China, who has been awarded the Nobel Peace prize this year. Since the Chinese have successfully prevented anybody even remotely connected with him from going to Oslo to receive the prize on his behalf, the function is likely to be purely symbolic without the prize being handed over to anybody unless the Norwegian Nobel Committee decides to hand it over to a Chinese human rights activist living abroad.

`We hope billions of dollars will now be invested by local and foreign entrepreneurs. This will boost electricity supply and foster industrialisation. It will also help us trim power shortages to zero by 2013,` he told AFP.

Rajapaksa had just ended an interview with The Times, UK, Editor James Harding and journalist Ben Macintyre. He had arrived there only two nights earlier. World leaders, politicians, the civil society and the media must raise their voice, leading both the demand for justice for those who perished as a result of Sri Lanka`s war atrocities and the increasing call for an international independent investigation, by either, establishing a special tribunal convened for that purpose, similar to that of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) or asking the International Criminal Court (ICC), to try political and military leaders accused of war crimes in Sri Lanka.

SRI Lanka is going the wrong way in solving its ethnic problem. The Tamils nourish a grievance that they do not get their due in their own country. President Mahinda Rajapaksa, representing the Sinhalese, the majority community of Sri Lanka, should have at least after an overwhelming victory at the polls, looked into what has come to be the Tamil question. But he has discontinued the singing of National Anthem in Tamil, a practice followed for years to give the Tamils a feeling of equality. This will only confirm their belief that they are second-class citizens.
