Dr Silva ready to treat the White Folks - Well British High Commission is under his Nose - Why cant he start there? Yet More Own Goals to be Scored by the KINGS
Saturday, 4 December 2010 - 6:45 PM SL Time

Minister Mervyn Silva stated that he invites all the white folks `Suddo` in the world to come to Sri Lanka and learn about the `Mahinda Chinthanaya`.

He says that he will educate all Englishmen from the highest officers to the lowest on Mahinda Chinthanaya and will advise them to follow it.

Attending the inauguration of the `Dr. Mervyn Silva Challenge Trophy, Bicycle Tour` earlier today (December 03) he expressed that even though Britain is incapable of providing security to a leader of a country, if they come to Sri Lanka at any given time they would be able to complete all their affairs and return back safely.

High Commission London Failed miserably - Liyanage
Monday, 6 December 2010 - 1:40 AM SL Time

The United Peoples` Freedom Alliance, in my view, reached its climax at the Parliamentary election held in April 2010. Since then although the UPFA government has been able to secure the support of more MPs to obtain two-third majority necessary for constitutional changes, it seems its support base is decreasing gradually. The cancellation of the scheduled address by President Rajapaksa at the Oxford University may be treated as the first major setback for President Rajapaksa and the UPFA government. It is likely that the UPFA will lose the control of a substantial number of local government councils at the forthcoming local government elections owing to the fact that the living standards of people have not proportionately increased although the economy has recorded a high rate of growth. As I still believe that I place myself within the UPFA mass base, this is an internal critique of the UPFA government, its policies and its administration.

For almost an hour , in a suite in the Dorchester, Mr Rajapakse has painted a picture of his government and country that was as white and spotless as his traditional garb any atrrocities at the culmination of Sri Lanka`s brutal war with Tamil separatists were the work of the terrorists videos allegedly showing army troops killing civilians were fakes war crime allegations were groundless the arrest and trial of his foremost political opponent was a matter for the judiciary and nothing to do with him.

Politics in Sri Lanka becomes Dangerously COMIC - Meke Comedy Countryek?
Tuesday, 7 December 2010 - 4:35 PM SL Time

(December 05, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Last week`s episode relating to a scheduled talk at the Oxford Union by President Mahinda Rajapakse exposed how dangerously comical Sri Lankan politics has become. It was just a matter of a scheduled talk and its cancellation due to protests. A relatively minor incident, a non-event. However, this has been magnified to be an earth-shaking national event, requiring large rallies of protest in front of the British High Commissioner`s Office in Sri Lanka organized by the leaders in the government themselves.

A judge at City of Westminster Magistrates` Court refused bail because of the risk of the 39-year-old fleeing.

RULE BY DECEPTION
Wednesday, 8 December 2010 - 12:57 PM SL Time

(December 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Rajapakse was forced to return home from his bitter trip to London in disgrace amidst real possibility of being arrested in the UK the first victim on whom the issuing of arrest warrant was imminent for alleged war crimes was one of the Major Generals who was in the President`s entourage. The criminal law set in motion by the British Tamil Forum (BTF) would have been a certain success if not for the leakage of information on the judicial process initiated by them, that allowed Presidential convoy hurriedly return home in one piece. Panic and fear psychosis experienced by the high profile delegation was such that they were forced to plead the British Government`s mercy for permission to take the aircraft of the Sri Lankan Air Line, all the way to terminal 5 from where the President boarded the aircraft avoiding confrontation with BTF.

Karuna`s Group & DogClasses Group are responsible for the thuggery work with the approval of the Gvt - No wonder the ministers are now given luxury vehicles
Thursday, 9 December 2010 - 2:29 PM SL Time

The desire of ordinary womenfolk in the war affected areas to talk about their loss and grievances was more than obvious at the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) sessions in Trincomalee. Despite the heavy rains and the fact that many villages, including Thambalagamuwa and Kappathurei, had not received information about the LLRC sessions and venues hundreds gathered to give submissions at the first session held at Trincomalee Kachcheri.
Hearing the men and women who have travelled many miles to tell their personal tales of woe is a humbling experience for the society at large since it becomes more and more obvious that the most pressing immediate issues of these people have not being solved after more than 18 months since the end of Ealam War IV.

Can we feel Safe in a country where a 79 yr old granny is persecuted and prosecuted over the disappearance of her Grandson?
Sunday, 12 December 2010 - 6:30 PM SL Time

For almost an hour in a suite in the Dorchester, Mr. Rajapaksa had painted a picture of his government and country that was as white and spotless as his traditional garb .. His large entourage, ranged on sofas around the room, nodded in rapt agreement at every word the President said . The Times (2.12.2010)
There is madness in the air. Instead of making a sobre analysis of the Oxford debacle and deriving appropriate lessons, the regime is frenziedly lashing out at the opposition, dementedly searching for suitable `sacrificial victims` to propitiate the Jovian wrath of the President.

Lessons to Learn from UNP for Rajapakse - Daily Mirror Editorial
Tuesday, 14 December 2010 - 1:36 PM SL Time

The Mahinda Rajapaksa regime facing unprecedented international pressure over alleged human rights violations and failure to find a just political solution to the ethnic conflict needs to take a lesson from what happened in the main opposition United National Party (UNP) and especially at the UNP`s much awaited and highly controversial convention last Sunday.

Since 1978 especially the UNP constitution has been much like the all powerful executive presidential system with far too much power vested in one person. Now the main opposition party has come to terms with realities and has changed the constitution in a manner that the party leader and four top officials will need to be elected or re elected every year either through consensus or secret ballot.

How they busted the Colombo Gym:)))
Wednesday, 15 December 2010 - 2:37 PM SL Time

After many attempts police were finally able to raid a well-patronized brothel after obtaining a warrant last Friday (December 10), to arrest the `madam` of this high end sex-worker facility which was operating at the Liberty Plaza shopping complex in Colombo.
Police said, This brothel employed sex workers from a number of countries and had also been patronized by top police officers in addition to parliamentarians and top executives. This prevented police from so much as visiting the spot in the past, let alone busting this operation . However, the raid has caused ripples in establishment circles and many of the police officers involved in the raid were now wondering what the outcome would be. The `madam` of the brothel who was overseas at the time of the raid has contacted her friends in high places and was attempting to carry on her trade and `fix` those who were involved in the raid.

Sinhala Only National Anthem - Brilliant Masterpiece by the King & Cronies
Sunday, 19 December 2010 - 7:59 PM SL Time

conquering hero who threatens to destroy the liberty of his homeland belongs to history, not myth .
Ren Girard (Violence and the Sacred)
The disturbingly inane proposal for a Sinhala-Only National Anthem has suffered (an ephemeral) setback, due to internal dissent. Still, it may return, as the proposal for presidential term-limit removal did (initially withdrawn due to internal opposition and subsequently reintroduced via the 18th Amendment). A resurrection is likely because the idea of a Sinhala-Only National Anthem is integral to the Ruling Family`s nation-building project aimed at moulding a Sinhala- supremacist and a Rajapaksa-supremacist Sri Lanka.

Indian National Anthems and their meanings
Monday, 20 December 2010 - 12:23 AM SL Time

Vande Mataram (Bengali script: ব ন ্ দ ে ম া ত র ম ্ ‌ Devanagari: व न ् द े म ा त र म ् Vande Mā taram `I bow to thee, Mother`) is a poem in the 1882 novel Anandamatha by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay. It is written in a mixture of Bengali and Sanskrit.[1] It is a hymn to the goddess Durga, identified as the national personification of India. It came to be considered the `National Anthem of Bengal`,[2] and it played a part in the Indian independence movement, first sung in a political context by Rabindranath Tagore at the 1896 session of the Indian National Congress[3]. In 1950, its first two verses were given the official status of `national song` of the Republic of India,[3] distinct from the national anthem of India Jana Gana Mana. Many Muslim organizations in India have declared fatwas against singing Vande Mataram, due to the song giving a notion of worshipping Mother India, which they consider to be shirk (idolatry).[4]

`The dragon and the elephant should tango!` So said Wen Jiabao last week during a rare visit to India. The Chinese premier employed some uncharacteristically colourful language to convey an unusual idea that of Sino-Indian co-operation.

Relations between China and India have long been soured by bitter rivalry and mutual suspicion. Over the past few days, though, the two Asian powerhouses have cuddled up like a pair of giant pandas. This is a display of diplomatic affection that matters not least as it could have a significant impact on the shape of the global economy.

ENGLAND retains Ashes
Wednesday, 29 December 2010 - 7:42 AM SL Time

At 11.53 am Melbourne time England retained the Ashes. A fifth Test remains in Sydney, and considerable gloss will be taken away if Australia level the series at 2-2, improbable though that is in their dishevelled state.
But, come what may, the object of England`s exercise has been achieved. England`s players leaped and combined in a delighted huddle. Seldom has a cricket campaign been conducted better than England`s this winter.
