Will there be a violent resurgence of the LTTE soon?
Saturday, 6 November 2010 - 5:26 PM SL Time
|
Currently LTTE activists and fund raisers are going around collecting money in different Western countries. They have a common story with variations in recital depending upon the target audience and narrator. The story in essence is something like this-
LTTE leader Prabhakaran and Intelligence chief Pottu Amman are safe in a secret location with 2000 experienced tiger cadres. They broke through the military and naval cordon and reached safety a few days before the Mullivaakkal debacle. They are keeping a low profile for obvious reasons. But plans are afoot to launch a concerted attack on the North and East of Sri Lanka and capture strategic territory after annihilating or driving the armed forces away .

PRABHAKARAN ALIVE MYTH FAILS TO ELICIT FUNDS - EXPERT... But GooDemalas thinking he is eating well... :)
Sunday, 7 November 2010 - 6:40 PM SL Time

A radical faction of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), headed by Norway-based Perinpanayagam Sivaparan alias Nediyavan, has failed miserably to get voluntary contributions from the Tamil diaspora by promoting the myth that Velupillai Prabhakaran is alive and planning a comeback, LTTE watchers say.
There is virtually no collection now, said Dr Rohan Gunaratna, head of Singapore-based International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research.

Sabid Ali Sheikh stands on a prairie of trash old onions, excrement, animal bones slowly rotting its way back into an earth riddled with rat burrows. Sometimes the ground gives way under his feet.
It is after midnight, and Sheikh is after the rats. He listens for them. He tries to catch their red eyes in the sweep of his flashlight. Some rat killers say they can smell them in the dark.
Sheikh, 23, is a night rat killer, one of 44 employed by the city of Mumbai to wage its long, losing war against vermin.

Lessons to be learnt and reconciliation IV
Tuesday, 23 November 2010 - 11:40 PM SL Time
|
by Nalin de Silva
It is very clear by the submissions of Rev. Duleep de Chikera and Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith to the LLRC that some people are not prepared to learn any lesson as far as the history, culture, demography etc., of the country are concerned. They are more than happy to repeat what the English have told them to undermine the Sinhala people and the Sinhala Buddhist culture in the country. If anybody is thinking of reconciliation the first lesson to be learnt is not to blame the so-called Sinhala state for the `ethnic problem` of the country. If people think that they can blame the Sinhala Buddhists for something that they are not responsible and solve the so-called ethnic problem then it is nothing but daydreaming. The English educated in the country continue to repeat a false history as far as the `ethnic problem` is concerned, ignoring what I have written without contradicting me. If what I write is wrong they could always point out the errors, mistakes, blunders, etc., but they find it convenient to ignore them.

In 2008, bet you didn`t think that this will befall you, eh? Didn`t think that the Sinhalayas in this Thrice Blessed land will ever say ENOUGH and kick you all the way to the sea!
Didn`t think that your kingdom will fall and crumble beneath your own feet, pulverized by the marching of a hundred thousand Lions.
Didn`t think that `Kavumas` will in the end eat Kavums in celebrations over your death, eh?
Well, my dear Thalaivar, FU and the horse than you rode on.
Rot in hell... and Happy Birthday!

Quarter, Giving No
By John Burns
The ancient name for Sri Lanka, Serendip, long ago passed into English as the word serendipity, meaning the making of pleasant discoveries by accident. Lying off the southeastern coast of India, the island earned its name from European mariners who found on this lush, gentle island a sanctuary from the forbidding vastness of the Indian Ocean.
It has been a harsh irony of the past two decades that Sri Lanka, with its white beaches and scented uplands, has become synonymous with one of the world`s most violent and merciless conflicts. In two separate civil wars, one still continuing and the other ended by the unremitting harshness of government forces in the early 1990s, at least 100,000 Sri Lankans have died. In a population of 19 million, the losses have been compared to those suffered by France and England in the century`s two world wars. Even more horrifying, many thousands of the dead were slaughtered not in battlefield combat, but as a result of a take-no-prisoners tactic adopted by all sides.

Mosque Massacres Revisited
By Peter Cassie-Chitty
On Friday August 4, 1990 over three hundred Muslims, men and boys, were prostrate in prayer at the Meera Jumma Mosque, fifty yards from the Kandy Batticaloa Road. None of them were armed.
It was seven twenty in the evening and the town of Katankudi was lit up. The prayers went on when there was a power cut throwing the mosque into darkness.
A stones throw away from the Meera Jumma is the smaller Hussainya Mosque. There was a smaller gathering of approximately forty people here -- prostrate in prayer too. The power cuut had been effected by the large group of LTTE cadres on their murderous mission.

United States Condemns Terrorist Attack on Sri Lankan Bus
Bombing kills 60 people, including 15 schoolchildren
By David Shelby
Washington File Staff Writer
Washington The United States condemned a June 15 terrorist attack on a passenger bus in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, that killed 60 people, including 15 schoolchildren.
This vicious attack bears all the hallmarks of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack in a written statement. It is a clear violation of the Ceasefire Agreement that the Tamil Tigers claim to uphold.

The LTTE started its ethnic cleansing in 1984. The first Sinhala civilians to be massacred were from two farming villages in Mullaitivu called Kent Farm and Dollar Farm. Except for a few, all the civilians living in these two villages were massacred.
On 30th Nov 1984 a group of heavily armed Tamil Tigers attacked and killed 33 unarmed Civilians at Doller farm and 29 unarmed Civilians. The officials said tigers had scrambled from two buses, spraying submachine-gun and rifle fire and throwing grenades as they herded civilians into buildings and then blew up the buildings.

LTTE Massacres of Innocent Sinhala Civilians
The LTTE Tamil Terrorists started its policy of ethnic cleansing in 1984. The first Sinhala civilians to be massacred by these barbarians were from two farming villages in Mullaitivu called Kent Farm and Dollar Farm. Except for a few, all the civilians living in these two villages were massacred - over hundred of them. Unlike the Tamils who have a well organised propaganda network, to show to the world the `plight of the Tamils`, these innocents they massacre, have no such sophisticated propaganda machinery to bring their butchery to the attention of the World.

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets that I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy`s eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
`Now the old king is dead!
Long live the king!`
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing

Icy reception for Rajapaksa at Heathrow - Monkeys waiting, huddled up on the coach they came in till the King comes out... :)

[TamilNet, Monday, 29 November 2010, 22:36 GMT]
More than five hundred Tamils gathered at London`s Heathrow airport to protest as Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa landed from Colombo. As Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL509 carrying Mr. Rajapaksa, who is on a private visit, landed at about 9:50 p.m. UK time, protestors braved Britain`s unusually cold weather to call attention to his government`s war crimes. Meanwhile, a senior Norwegian expert on the conflict in Sri Lanka advised Tamil activists to concentrate on country-level legal moves, rather than waiting for any global or governmental actors to take the lead. Tamils should forge alliances with legal, alternative, and human rights groups to fight the legal battle, the expert told Norwegian Country Council representatives, who welcomed the British demonstration.
