Fury of a woman knows no bounds. Worse, when she is powerful and arrogant but yet failed to achieve her goals. Such is Hilary Clinton. The mighty Secretary of State failed to tame Sri Lanka. The failed Presidential aspirant, knowingly or unknowingly, received terrorist funding for her election campaign and was compelled to return the cash to comply with the law. Notwithstanding her strenuous efforts she could not save the lives of the terrorists, to whom she is obliged. Therein lays the story.

UN expert to discuss rights of displaced

A senior U.N. official was to visit Sri Lanka on Wednesday to discuss the plight of nearly 300,000 war-displaced civilians detained in camps since the island`s civil war ended.
Walter Kaelin, who was to arrive later Wednesday, will visit displacement camps in northern Sri Lanka and hold talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his three-day visit, according to Gordon Weiss, the U.N. spokesman in Colombo.
Kaelin follows a visit made last week by another U.N. official, B. Lynn Pascoe, who expressed concern over the authorities` lack of pace in returning the displaced civilians home.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The former President of Sri Lanka Chandrika Kumaratunga has decried lack of basic freedom in her country.
The former president, who is on a visit to Kerala, was speaking to the media after calling on Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan at the Secretariat on Tuesday. Ms. Kumaratunga said that there was an overall feeling of fear in Sri Lanka. I fear for my life, if I speak freely, though my party is in power (as part of a coalition), she said.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Britain, Nihal Jayasinghe, has strongly denied allegations by Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka, who have released footage they claim shows the execution of Tamil Tiger prisoners by the Sri Lankan military.
