Clean cheap energy..?

With the ever increasing gas price, average Sri Lankans are facing a huge struggle to manage daily life. The sky is having lot of clouds but full sunny days are not rare in Sri Lanka. These photos show a very traditional but practical way to heat water use in some countries. It`s worth to see the possibility to introduce this method to our country..? This may be a good option to heat water for tea, in the field too. This is a clean cheap energy, no running cost, and less danger .

`Bottlebrush` flower has the exact appearance of its name. There are many colours, and this bright red is common in most of the coastal areas of eastern Australia. Birds love the tree and these flowers, and I watch many parrots in our garden tree, when flowers are blooming.
For more info:
http://www.anbg.gov.au/callistemon/index.html
Bottlebrushes are members of the genus Callistemon and belong to the family Myrtaceae. They are closely related to paperbark melaleucas, which also have `bottlebrush` shaped flower spikes. It is difficult to tell to which genus some species belong. Botanists are currently closely studying these plants to determine how they are best classified. There are 34 species currently called Callistemon.

Childish propaganda

The dailymail.co.uk, has published a pictorial account of war zone after its reporter had a trip over the area with Ban-Ki-Moon.
They are extensively reporting about the war damage and depict the area as the disaster zone, but have forgotten, it`s a extra-ordinary temporary living area, which became a tent city, after LTTE forcing people to settle there.
I post one of the photos they publish to post here. The level these western journalists understand our local situation shows by the caption of the photo. They described the lorry as a bus..! Also, though they talk about the white flag of on the lorry, deliberately of due to negligence, no mention about the LTTE green sand-bag bunker just next to the lorry.

exploding all...
Sunday, 17 May 2009 - 8:27 PM SL Time

According to latest Rupawahini news, heavy explosions are continuing in the last LTTE pocket. News explains those as ammunition dumps located among tents of civilians and LTTE is purposely exploding them before SLA arrive. Placing ammunition among civilians is clearly against the general norms and neglecting the civilian safety to the highest level, though LTTE blame SLA for all bad deeds of civilians.
WEST and UN must learn these facts well, when they evaluate the situation.

At least, people must open eyes and select the correct path to ask demands. The world has changed, and space to taking demands by force is less, unless you are not a big-power. The global respect for the Tamil culture and nation at danger, if things move this way ..!
A section of civilians are facing the death, but SLA/ LTTE is dragging war. But, no war is going to settle for peace, when one party is facing a near defeat.

This photo shows some LTTE people getting-off from LTTE armed car, which they used to SLA just after that. Eventually, armed car and all inside it were destroyed by SLA, according to national TV. The people those who are getting down from the armed car may not among the dead.
From the out-look, these two people, both with off-white shirts may not ordinary LTTE members. They must have some special value, and armed car brought them close to the SLA border line, for some special prepose.

Permanent building ?
This is just one example site from the UN satellite image interpretation. It says a permanent building destroyed at this place within last month.
See the tree images here.
Google image:
May be taken about 1 year or so before the conflict in this area. No permanent building in the spot (see the yellow and red circles).
March 29 image:
There are buildings, but it`s not easy to say that they are permanent. They may newly build for resettlement of IDPs and perhaps some activities of LTTE too.
