Dhoni and the No. 5 slot
Saturday, 31 October 2009 - 9:08 PM SL Time
|
refer to
No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, or No. 6? Plenty of opinions have been pouring forth on which batting position is the best one for India`s captain, MS Dhoni. Many former players have suggested the one-drop position, since he has been India`s best batsman this year and the No. 3 slot will allow him the chance to play the maximum number of overs. Dhoni has steadfastly stuck to his belief that Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh are best suited to come in immediately after the openers, and has chosen to push himself up the order only if either or both of those players aren`t available.

Australia in India 2009-10
After two matches in the series, the Indian fast bowlers can breathe easier with the spotlight shifting to their Australian counterparts. If India`s fast men were the weak link going into the series, the death overs have indeed spelt doom for the Australian quicks now.

The list is the most complete released by any state or federal agency and could help answer concerns about hydraulic fracturing in Congress and in states where gas drilling has increased in recent years.

Tuesday, 27 October 2009 - 11:54 PM SL Time
|
Shortly before 9 a.m. last Saturday, more than 400 people waited in line outside the Balboa Sports Complex in Encino, Calif., anxious to enter one of several Los Angeles County Public Health clinics offering free H1N1 vaccines to those considered high-risk. The first person in line had arrived at midnight, while many others had assembled well before dawn to ensure they would get the vaccine when the clinic doors opened at 9. Over the next several weeks, the county will distribute the 300,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine it received out of the 1.3 million doses sent to California by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). However, Dr. Jonathan Fielding, director of public health and health officer for Los Angeles County, says the county will need at least 5.5 million doses to cover those in high-risk categories for flu-related complications.

By Dhananjani Silva
The dawn of peace in the north east region has given people an opportunity to freely move around in these once war- ravaged parts of the island.
With the end of war, a major change in tourism will take place. There will be a natural influx of people to the country and Sri Lanka will not only become a tourist destination but it will be a place, for instance, like Hawaii or Penang island where people will come and build houses or have apartments, said Prasanna W. Jayewardene, a pioneer in the hotel industry. One of his latest initiatives is a massive hotel development project islandwide including in the north and east.
