Should insider trading be legalized?
Insider trading is back, big time.

On Friday, U.S. federal prosecutors and the SEC charged Raj Rajaratnam, the founder of New York hedge fund the Galleon Group, with insider trading in the stocks of several companies, including Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.N), Google (GOOG.O), and Akamai (AKAM.O). Prosecutors say he earned about $20 million in the process. Six others were also charged in the scheme.

This isn`t your garden variety insider trading case. It involved an extensive, coordinated investigation by officials from both the FBI and the SEC, complete with government wiretaps. It suggests a level of aggression by law enforcement against insider traders not seen in decades.

Tamil statehood?

Applying the `self-evident` truths celebrated in the Declaration of Independence, the United States should recognize the right of Sri Lanka`s long oppressed Tamil people to independent statehood from the racial supremacist Sinhalese.

To deny the statehood right ? sought by the Tamil people since 1976 ? would mark one of the United States` most ill-conceived hours. Double standards beget enmity or contempt, a steep price even for a superpower.

The single greatest and immediate threat facing the human race is not terrorism, poverty, AIDS or war. It`s Global Climate Destabilization.

This guys does a fairly good job of putting things in perspective for the layman.
