Attack on Galle

With the arrest of this potential `chief priest` of a Buddhist Vihare in Baddegama the police division of Galle district has done a tremendous job and big respect goes out police chief Gunaratna and his team. `Explosives weighing about 60 kg on receipt of information conveyed by some members of the public. Police team recovered 43 kilos of dynamite, 223 kilos of ammonium nitrate, 22 kilos of black gun powder and 233 detonators`
It is certainly very positive to see, that Sri Lankan police is targeting at ALL types of militant extremists and that investigations are not limited to the Tamil communities.

SL management

Sri Lanka has some of the most scenic railway lines in the world, but it`s management has not been able to produce any reliable and comfortable service at all for it`s customers.
Anyone with a bit of wealth is avoiding the trains because of frequent breakdowns and general conditions.
More and more power cuts and the Mihin Lanka scam are two other examples that have triggered justified criticism due to huge losses and no reliability despite loads of staff in charge of things.

SL lovers

Over the years the Sri Lankan beach boys must have done a tremendous job for their country by attracting so many Western females who feel well looked after and who keep on boosting the National tourist figures.
Obviously these ladies are also contributing a lot to the local catering industry so that the tourist board will hopefully see the potential of creating special beach boy packages for Western XXL models who feel truly happy on the Island.

Dalai Lama

Sri Lanka has consistently rejected requests to issue the Dalai Lama a visa to visit the island and worship at two of Buddhism`s holiest sites in the island.
Buddhist leaders have said Sri Lanka is the only Buddhist nation which has barred the Dalai Lama.
Pressure from China, which accuses the Dalai Lama of being a separatist, is said to be responsible for Colombo`s stance.
