Sachin : GOD of Indian Cricket Friday, 6 November 2009 - 11:36 AM SL Time

Nobody does solos better than Sachin Tendulkar, nor, perhaps, has anyone endured as much heartbreak during those solos. It was India of the 90s all over again: Tendulkar almost chased 351 on his own but, with the target in sight, he got out and the rest choked, falling short by three runs with two balls still to go. In Chennai in 1998-99, Tendulkar, having played an innings as incredible as this, left the last three wickets 17 to get tonight he left them 19 off 17.

I Praise My Tail Thursday, 5 November 2009 - 5:45 PM SL Time

Dear LNP,

The names used in this content has no relevance to any handle names in LNP. Any resemblance is pure a coincidence. If it sound like any of the members here, then deeply regretted. More over my command over English is not that great, hence the article is not flawless.

Lazily switched on TV on that Saturday morning and started flipping channels. My toddler in her baby-talk asked me `haddhya kyaa hai`. Surprised and wondered.... I tried to reason out why she wanted to know the meaning of murder.

Indians now Miss the Protection of Sea Tigers. Monday, 2 November 2009 - 10:37 AM SL Time

If reports given by fishermen, that Chinese men in Lankan fatigues are jointly patrolling the seas with the Lankan navy are true, then India`s security seems to be at threat.

According to the fishermen from Ramanathapuram district, who have been attacked by the Lankan navy at mid sea, the Sinhalese are being accompanied by men who have Chinese features and who talk in a different language.

The Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar, according to the fishermen, have been converted into a more sensitive zone after the elimination of the LTTE.

Silly Lanka to pay heavily for its Human Rights Abuses Friday, 30 October 2009 - 11:42 AM SL Time

For several months during and after the end-game of the decades-long civil war between the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Sri Lanka`s government brushed off Western criticism of its abusive practices. It has relied instead on moral and financial support from states less concerned with such matters, such as China and Pakistan

Dhoni Takes India Closer to NO 1 in the World AGAIN Thursday, 29 October 2009 - 12:03 PM SL Time

The ball was full, but not quite a half-volley. The shot that followed was something of a topspin forehand hit on the half-volley, bouncing close to the baseline. The knees were not bent like a tennis player`s but the bigger bat and massive twirl did the job, depositing the ball wide of long-on for one of the flatter sixes you`re likely to see. MS Dhoni can still play those shots.

That he does not do as freely or as often as he used to is not lost on fans and colleagues alike. When Dhoni hits big shots in the nets, Virender Sehwag is usually quick to point out, in banter, `MS, yahan to bade-bade lag rahe hain, match mein kya ho jata hai? [Where do these big shots disappear in the matches?]`

It was an unusual drama at the Chennai Airport in the early hours of Saturday when a Sri Lankan girl with a deportation order refused to board a Colombo-bound flight. On the 1st of June Poddala Jayantha, secretary of the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA) was abducted and brutally assaulted. The assault has left him in a dire anxiety for the security of his family, while he has himself been in crutches ever since.

I was in hospital for 29 days. I maybe able to keep my feet properly on the ground in a month or two but doctors say that I would be limping for the rest of my life , he continued, pointing at the steel plates that were inserted into his foot.
