The LTTE had dug its own grave through a series of mistakes starting with the killing of fellow Tamils, moderates and militants alike, and climaxing in indirectly helping Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa to win the Nov 2005 presidential election by asking the Tamils to boycott the polls, resulting in the defeat of peacenik and UNP rival Ranil Wickremasinghe, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has said.

Karthikesu Sivathambi Renowned Sri Lankan Tamil scholar Karthikesu Sivathambi finds himself caught in the politics over the World Classical Tamil conference being held in Coimbatore in June 2010.

Denying reports that Prof Sivathambi will not be attending, Chie Minister M Karunanidhi has said the scholar has written to him, agreeing to take part and even suggested topics for discussion.

In a statement, he has said those who are spreading reports that Prof Sivathambi would not take part are acting as stumbling blocks to his efforts to promote Tamil.

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa being greeted by covering with silk shawl Tamil Nadu MPs expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by Sri Lanka to resettle the IDPs in the Northern province.

The Tamil Nadu Parliamentarians, a total of 10 of them, who came to Sri Lanka on a fact finding mission, mostly about the Internally Displaced Persons, presently quartered in the Welfare centres in Vavuniya, met yesterday Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and urged for the speedy resettlement of the IDPs, but they were also appreciative of the actions taken by the government so far, in this direction.

December 4th, 2007, Jessica Sherwood had to do something no mother should ever have to do.

At 2:29 pm Jessica made a very tough, but the right decision to take her little 3 month old daughter off life support

In memory of little London Marie, i thought id start a little forward..

Jessica had a message that i want every one to know..

This is what Jessica said:

`If anyone has kids, make sure that you keep them with you the whole time. Don`t give then to anyone that you don`t trust. Trust me, I thought that I trusted Josh. But now as of December 4, 2007 at 2:29 AM, she is gone. My one & only baby . & He is going to pay FOREVER, even if he gets out of jail scott free, he will be dead no matter what. & To all my friends that know London, I am very angry & upset that I lost the love of my life, my babygirl. She died on her three month birthday .

Suspect of major drug trafficking, human smuggling, gun-running and transnational terrorist activities....

Intelligence agencies in several countries are now on a hunt for several high-profile LTTE front agents cum arms dealers, with reliable suspicions of transnational terrorist activities including drug trafficking and human smuggling, informed sources said citing latest reports received.

According to these sources intelligence agencies are on the track of LTTE terrorist agents who are alleged to have links with many active militia and terrorist organizations abroad. These agents had worked clandestinely, based in foreign locations, aiding and abetting in many crimes against humanity perpetrated by the LTTE. This hunt is a combined effort of the intelligence circles in several countries, along with the concerned law enforcement agencies, the sources further said.

Did Rajnikanth, Vaiko and Ramdoss benefit from LTTE money? Yes, they did, alleges Sri Lanka Minister for Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Abdul Risath Bathiyutheen, who also claims that the Tigers funded business ventures and set up Tamil radio and TV stations in the West and Far East.

In a freewheeling interview with Asian Tribune, the minister was economical on facts. He did not elaborate on his allegations, probably as he appeared to making the allegation as a passing `disclosure` with his focus more on rump LTTE and their tirade against Colombo.

Nalanda College, Colombo, paid tribute to old-Nalandians who had laid their lives during the past three decades in the battle against terrorism, at a War Hero commemoration event held at the College auditorium yesterday (August 02). The event was organized by the Old Boys Association of the Nalanda College.

This was the 8th War Hero commemoration organized at the College since 2002, in tribute for past Naladians both military and Police. Addressing a large gathering the Chief Guest, Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, paid gratitude for 41 Naladians for their sacrifices made to save mother Lanka. Awards of Honor were also handed over for disabled Nalandians in tribute for the active service rendered.

The strength of the merger of green and shades of blue, keeps the gunships flying and the skies safe. The author, delves into the success of the Squadron and writes, `what mattered were - the `who` in the team, the `how` of the missions, `what` the men thought and of course, the unusual spirit that bonded who, how and what... together.`

The Hinds
No.09 Attack Helicopter Squadron (a.k.a The Hinds) became a reality on 24 November, 1995 with the initiation of Mil Mi-24 `Hind` gunships into Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF). SLAF Base, Hingurakgoda is the proud Mother base of the squadron. The initial `No.09` consisted of three (03) Attack Helicopters and thirty one (31) personnel (Pilots 05, Engineering Crew 26). At present the squadron is made up of fourteen (14) Attack Helicopters and three hundred and six (306) personnel (Pilots 21, Engineering Crew 249 and Air Gunners 36).
