India provides further relief for IDPs
The Indian mission had been informed of a second consignment of 2,600 metric tonnes of galvanised corrugated sheets valued at $2.65 million to be used to build shelters for the IDPs in various relief villages, reported `The Hindu`.
India had delivered the first consignment in August, 2009. The Hindu further reported that India would send two more teams to speed up the de-mining process, in addition to the four teams operating in various areas.

Mano spilling the beans?

Democratic People`s Front Leader Mano Ganesan came out with a new disclosure yesterday saying General Sarath Fonseka had sent one of his representatives for a discussion with him recently after he threatened to withdraw from the opposition Alliance if the General was nominated as the common alliance candidate. He said he had informed the representative that he had no personal grudge against him.

Tiger proxies say they will hold polls next April
The US based LTTE activist Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, in an emailed statement, said that the moves are underway to hold elections in April 2010 to form the Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam ( PTGTE). He said that elections provide the best opportunity for the Tamil Diaspora community to exercise their democratic rights.

US tightlipped over controversy involving Fonseka, Gota
WASHINGTON The United States was tightlipped Monday about Sri Lanka`s visiting top military commander, after the island said US authorities planned to grill him over alleged war crimes.
Sri Lanka summoned the US ambassador to demand the Department of Homeland Security drop what the island`s government said were plans to question General Sarath Fonseka over the campaign that crushed Tamil Tiger rebels.

Fonseka asked to give evidence against Gota
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Sarath Fonseka has written to the Sri Lankan Mission in Washington saying that he has been asked by US officials to give evidence against Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa over alleged human rights abuses, a highly placed diplomatic source said.
