Even as the Indian government meets a Lankan delegation to decide on the fate of MV Ali, a ship carrying aid to Sri Lanka - the ship`s crew have made a plea in public for the ship to be allowed to deliver its cargo of relief supplies to war-torn Lankan Tamils.
Kristjan Gu mundsson, a former member of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, who is onboard the vessel said though the vessel had no permission to anchor off the Chennai coast, it was in India`s best interests to address the concern over MV Ali`s cargo as India was involved `directly and indirectly`.

Captain Ali`s fate to be decided
June 24, 2009 10:29 am
The Indian Central Government will take a decision today (June 24) on the MV Captain Ali - a ship which is on a mercy mission to Sri Lanka. A high level delegation of Sri Lankan officials will be meeting External Affairs Minister S M Krishna later today. A decision is expected to be taken after that meeting.
MV Captain Ali is a ship that is carrying around 884 tonnes of aid including food, medicine and other relief materials for internally displaced Sri Lankan Tamils. The Sri Lankan government has accused the NGO sending the aid of helping the LTTE and hence has sent back the relief ship.

Tamils Killing Tamils, The Final Episode_Prabakaran s last words to KP from his satellite phone Ne Oru Naya Vanchahan you are a traitor
Tuesday, 16 June 2009 - 4:39 PM SL Time

It started by Tamils killing Tamils, it ended as Tamils killing Tamils
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Moore in his bitingly satirical book `Dude Where`s My Country?` refers to Osama bin Laden and asks Who`s his travel agent? Well, the same can be asked about Kumaran Tharmalingam alias Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP who was appointed head of ` LTTE International` by Velupillai Prabakaran in January 2009. Michael Moore asks the question a bit late in the day and considering what has happened because it was not asked and answered at the proper time, I believe there is little time to dilly-dally with regard to this man. So I ask, Who`s KP`s travel agent? Since he is on Interpol`s most wanted list and still on the run with no sign of getting caught he obviously has the right contacts in high places. I offer that the USA`s Bruce Fein (who will tell any diabolical lie without batting an eyelid if paid by the hour) and UN`s Vijay Nambiar (who ducked into an airport toilet at Katunayake, Sri Lanka to answer KP`s call to rescue his beleaguered boss) could very well be two (of the several?) travel agents used by the man.

`Us and Them`

The following is an e mail written by Prof Gerry Pieris, (the former Chair Prof of Geography, Uni of Peradeniya) to Prof S.N.Arsecularatne, Former Chair Prof of Microbiology, Uni of Peradeniya, in response to the `Us and Them` email that`s been circulating around recently.

Surely, this type of photographically embellished contrast between the `rich` and the `poor` could be drawn in virtually any country. In the context of the fact that the `api` (we) refers to the Sinhalese and the `owun` refers to the Tamils`, several fairly obvious questions could be asked. One is whether the quality of life among the `api` could have been illustrated with photographs from the Wanathamulla area or the `squatter settlements` found all over Colombo. Likewise, wouldn`t pictures from palaces of the nouveau riche in Wellawatte, or the traditional Tamil `Brahmin` clans and the Tamil business moguls in the city - those who never allowed the likes of those in the northern IDP camps even to step into the verandas of their manorial homes illustrate the `api` life-styles. Most important of all, aren`t the `owun` immensely better off now than they were a month ago?

Blood on our hands, but this too shall pass
Wednesday, 20 May 2009 - 3:20 PM SL Time

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran`s death circa May 19, 2009, in circumstances we would never quite get to know, concludes a morality play.
As the curtain comes down and we leave the theatre, the spectacle continues to haunt us. We feel a deep unease and can`t quite figure out the reason. Something rankles somewhere. And then we realise we have blood on our hands.
Not only our hands, but our whole body and deeper down, our conscience -- what remains of it after the mundane battles of our day-to-day life is also dripping with blood.

Butchers slaughtered

=======================================================================
Although the Army had the opportunity to mount a heavy artillery barrage and call in the Jet Squadrons to zero in on the LTTE-held area, the ground commanders had favoured a ground assault. The LTTE had left several small groups to face the Army as the leaders attempted to reach the dense Mullaitivu jungles.
