Tehelka : The War May Be Over But The Idea Lives On
Saturday, 20 April 2013 - 5:05 PM SL Time

Disguised as a tourist, Revati Laul travelled through the country`s most war-ravaged districts. She spotlights a story that is rarely told
The idea of a separate Tamil nation is not dead in Sri Lanka.
There was a time when this was espoused with brutal violence by the dreaded LTTE. That violence has been leached out now to be replaced by a kind of limitless and perhaps more potent despair. There are reasons why the idea of a separate Tamil nation refuses to die.

For Sri Lanka, More Empty Words
A YEAR ago, when I was living in Colombo, Sri Lanka, I arranged to meet a friend for lunch, to talk about a Sri Lankan journalist who had gone missing and was presumed dead. By the time we met, my friend had a new mission: to keep another Sri Lankan safe.
The previous day, the United Nations Human Rights Council had passed a resolution noting with concern the Sri Lankan government`s refusal to address serious allegations of human rights abuses by the military carried out during and after its 26-year war with the separatist Tamil Tigers, which ended with a defeat of the rebel group in 2009.

Few Questions to Eelam tamils ?
Friday, 22 March 2013 - 12:45 AM SL Time
|
Sinhaleese please refrain from this thread.
My respect for your movement and resolve is not questionable. But i have these few questions and who better to ask than you people yourself.
1. Is casteism existant amongst eelam tamils ? There has been always been this high ground that we TN tamil place you people because we have heard eelam tamils are not caste ridden like us.
2. I read that LTTE killed 400 surrendering PLOTE cadres . Also read kirtu appologized for it in 1990`. But would we agree a similiar solution if Sinhaleese offer for 2009 ?

The face that launched a thousand protests
Thursday, 21 March 2013 - 11:38 AM SL Time
|
Chennai: One of the first things that I noticed on the drive from Chennai`s Meenambakkam airport to Chennai`s IT hub -Tidel Park, was the posters all along the route. The face that launched a thousand ships they say, but this one is of an innocent 12-year-old, Balachandran, the son of Velupillai Prabhakaran.
Still pictures from the Channel 4 video of his killing is the face that seems to have shaken people`s conscience and galvanised Tamil Nadu into unprecedented protests that are hoping to catch the eye and the attention of the world, more specifically, the United Nations (UN).

Here are the views expressed by student leaders on News channels
1. Refuse to pay tax to India , we pay 60000 crores a year.
2. Boycott US goods in TN, till US has economic interest hindered , they will not feel the heat first hand, or take tamil side. Colombo makes underwears, Chennai makes Cars. There is a qualitative difference.
