|
The sale of `Thina Murasu,` a most popular Tamil weekly paper has been banned in Paris by Parithi, the head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in France.
LTTE continues with its barbaric act of throttling the freedom of expression and human rights, not only in North and East of Sri Lanka, but also in France, a country that championed the cause of human values and human rights, by choosing to impose ban on the sale of `Thina Murasu,` - on the World Human Right day.

Geo-political genesis and Indian options
Like (in) Nepal,India is backing out in Sri Lanka too
By Subramanian Swamy
For India to play a role, the genesis of the Sri Lanka crisis has to be clearly understood. At present international facilitators such as the Norwegians have not much clue about the cause of the crisis. Hence they flounder.

Terror spy Omar Nasiri met many of bin Laden`s lieutenants in Afghanistan.
Nasiri knows what they say about people like him. He is familiar with the disparaging glances and the evasive promises of officials at Germany`s domestic intelligence agency. Most of all, he knows that there is one sentiment shared by intelligence agents the world over: They love betrayal but not the betrayer.

?In his annual `Heroes` Day` statement, the leader of the terrorist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Velupillai Prabhakaran, attempts to shift blame for the conflict that is tearing apart the small South Asian country away from his violent rebel group and onto the Sri Lankan government. The speech, which in theme varies little from the statements of previous years, likely marks the outright end of the slowly crumbling 2002 ceasefire and augurs very badly for the hope of renewing peace talks. Prabhakaran`s argument, more propaganda than fact, that the Tigers have worked for peace but been forced to fight is based on a series of false premises, and is an attempt to win sympathy and support from the international community.

Family planning rewards in heaven

God decided to encourage people to have less children and introduced an award scheme.
During the procedure at one point he concentrated on learning about the situation in Sri Lanka:
He first met J.R.Jayewardene in heaven, and asked him how many children he had during his time on earth. J.R. replied only one! Happy with the relatively good family planning adopted, God awarded J.R. with a Mercedes Benz!

Judge strikes president`s authority to designate terrorist groups
LINDA DEUTSCH - AP Special Correspondent
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A federal judge has ruled that a portion of a post-Sept. 11 executive order allowing President Bush to create a list of specially designated global terrorist groups is unconstitutionally vague.
U.S. District Judge Audrey Collins, in a Nov. 21 ruling released Tuesday, struck down the provision and enjoined the government from blocking the assets of two foreign groups which were placed on the list.

How the War on Terror Brought Peace to the World
Wednesday, 29 November 2006 - 12:47 AM SL Time
|
By James Dunnigan
December 29, 2003
The War on Terror has had an unintended, unnoticed, but welcome, side effect; world peace. Since September 11, 2001, and the aggressive American operations against terrorist organizations, several long time wars have ended, or moved sharply in that direction. Many of these wars get little attention in American media, but have killed hundreds of thousands of people over the last decade. These include conflicts in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Chad, Congo, Kashmir, Israel, Kurdistan, Philippines, Burundi, Somalia and Sudan. Some of these conflicts diminished because they had been going on for a while and, as is usually the case, the participants got tired of fighting and made deals. But in all these sudden outbreaks of peace there was another factor; an American crackdown on terrorist activities around the world. The rebels in most of these wars depended on money raised outside their country to keep the fighting going, and on gun runners willing and able to get weapons in. American anti-terrorism operations, energized by the shock of the September 11, 2001 attacks, now included cooperation from many nations, especially in Europe, that had long tolerated, fund raising, recruiting and public relations efforts by various rebel groups. No more. Most of these rebel organizations had already been declared `terrorist groups` (which they were, as most rebellions use terror, the American Revolution included). Once the U.S. and other nations began to crack down on the fund raising and other activities, it became difficult to keep many wars going.
