The world knows him as a dictator and a `self-styled` leader who has ruled the North African country of Libya for the last 41 years. Since the coup he engineered in 1969, Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi, has allegedly indulged in state-sponsored terrorism and human rights abuse.

During his long rule, Gaddafi, who is believed to have amassed billions of dollars, has been fearless and dominant. He has even defended the Somali Pirates and the Taliban in a UN speech.
Gaddafi`s Bodyguards has been much talked about. His 40-member, all female bodyguard contingent is responsible for his protection.

Sangupiddy Bridge - between Pooneryn & Jaffna Saturday, 27 November 2010 - 9:31 AM SL Time
 
This is the 288 metre Sangupiddy Atlas bridge in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka completed in Nov 2010.

Designed and manufactured by Mabey Bridge and purchased by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Highways as part of the ongoing Regional Bridge Project, the Atlas bridge was originally destined for use as a flyover at the Panadura junction in Colombo. However, having identified the North Western Province as a priority development location and following detailed investigations, the Ministry decided instead to build the structure as an Atlas Bridge in Sangupiddy.

UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayaka today claimed that 350 Lankan housemaids were remaining in a refugee camp in Saudi Arabia unable to return to the country.

Mr. Ramanayaka told a news conference in Colombo that the Lankan embassy in Saudi had sent them to the camp.

He called on the government to take urgent action to get down the housemaids to the country as they were undergoing difficulties without proper food and medical attention.

World Cup 2010: Fifa detains 36 female Holland fans for `ambush marketing` Thursday, 17 June 2010 - 2:14 PM SL Time
 
Thirty-six female Holland fans were thrown out of their country`s game against Denmark at Soccer City after Fifa officials accused them of wearing orange mini-dresses to promote an unlicensed beer brand.
South African newspaper the Star said the women were accused of `ambush marketing`. Fifa only allows promotional activity by firms that have official Fifa sponsor status.

A spokesman for the Bavaria beer company denied that the women had any links to their campaign, and said the group had been detained in a Fifa office for several hours. `It`s a nice dress. Very fashionable,` Peer Swinkels told the Star. `In my opinion, people should have the right to wear whatever they want.

Reunited with the Vietnamese `girl in the picture` Tuesday, 18 May 2010 - 7:59 PM SL Time
 
Kim Phuc, the Vietnamese girl in one of the unforgettable images of the Vietnam War , has been reunited by the BBC with Christopher Wain, the ITN correspondent who helped save her life 38 years ago.
When Chris last saw Kim, she was lying on a hospital bed with first-degree burns to more than half of her body, after a South Vietnamese napalm bomb attack.
It was 8 June 1972 and Chris and his crew had been in Vietnam for seven weeks, covering the conflict for ITN.

The line at Apple`s all-glass store in the Village at Sanlitun retail development was smaller, but at one point grew to at least 150 customers long, according to a late update on MobileCrunch. Customers at the Sanlitun store told reporters they hoped to get better service by buying directly from Apple.

Although China is the world`s largest cellphone market with more than 700 million subscribers, Western press reports have suggested that China Unicom (CHU) might have trouble attracting buyers under the terms of the deal it struck with Apple (AAPL). Due to restrictions imposed by the Chinese government, the iPhones being sold Friday won`t have a Wi-Fi receiver.
