ICL owners prepare for legal action
The ICL owners are ready to issue formal legal proceedings against the ICC, the ECB and the BCCI as early as next month.
The ICL predated its fellow Twenty20 competition the Indian Premier League but it was the latter that flourished into a global phenomenon after it became the preferred domestic competition of both the BCCI and the ICC.
ICL owners Essel Sports Private Ltd, whose fixture programme is currently suspended, believe that both parties - as well as the ECB - have acted in restraint of trade and in breach of competition law in attempting to sideline high-profile players plying their trade in the ICL and deter others from signing in the future.

Telephone is the world`s best innovation, according to legendary science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke. Sri Lankan opener Tillekaratne Dilshan is someone who would agree.
It all happened due to a one crucial call from Dilshan to his former skipper Mahela Jayawardane. At the time, Jayasuriya was Sri Lanka`s number one opener in both forms of the game.

The President`s eldest son Namal Rajapaksa had told several officials from his Tharunyata Hetak movement that uncles Basil and Gotabhaya were ruining his father`s and his political future, reliable sources said.
Namal had said that it was uncle Basil who was responsible for getting the JVP out of the government and receive the support Wimal Weerawansa after his defection from the JVP and that uncle Gotabhaya was responsible for the rift with General Sarath Fonseka. He had further said that these incidents have resulted in placing the government in an unstable position.

UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya has called on the government to hold free and fair elections and not to resort to its now usual tactics of winning at any cost, as witnessed during the last few days by the disrupting of several opposition meetings by government politicians.
Issuing a statement Jayasuriya says that at this crucial juncture in the country`s history, the UNP implored the government to respect the most fundamental of citizens rights in a democracy the franchise.

(Lanka-e-News 19.Nov.2009 2.00PM) The world`s largest forum of former Democratic Presidents and Prime Ministers the Club de Madrid concluded its Annual Conference in the Spanish capital on 12th November. More than 100 former Heads of State and experts from around the world met over two days to discuss `The Political Dimensions of the World Economic Crisis`.
President Kumaratunga addressed the conference on Employment, Social Welfare, and Democratic Rights and Duties . On the second day Club de Madrid appointed Mr. Wim Kok the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands as its President and Ms Jennifer Mary Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Vice President. Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga was elected to the twelve member Board of Directors of Club de Madrid.
