Recently there was huge fuss over this issue where a monk had submitted an application to become an ASP in the Sri Lankan Police and the issue has raised considerable concern in the media as well as the inquisitive general public. Going thorough some of the threads in certain news sites, I happen to find several interesting comments from the readers on not just on this single issue, but on the whole idea of monks breaking the shackles and stepping out of the traditional conduct that was incorporated with their robe for centuries.
