Sreesanth stars for India
Thursday, 26 November 2009 - 7:05 PM SL Time
|
If anyone watched Days 1, 2 and 3 of this Test match separately, they could have been forgiven for thinking that they were watching different matches. Day 1 had seen India piling on runs by the bucket full, as if they were playing a limited-overs match. Day 2 was more traditional, with a good build-up of runs initially followed by a later order collapse and a steady start by Sri Lanka. Day 3 has been the most dramatic by far, with 13 wickets falling in the day - all of them Sri Lankan.

India to deploy more troops along Chinese border
Tuesday, 17 November 2009 - 6:28 PM SL Time

India is quietly beefing up its defences along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh, even as it publicly downplays the growing diplomatic spat with Beijing over the Dalai Lama`s visit to the state.

Simultaneously, it has put out a Request for Information (RFI) for acquiring 300 lightweight tanks that can be deployed in the North East and Jammu & Kashmir.

|
`Perched high up in a remote corner of north-east India, Tawang is every bit the frontier town`
Maroon-robed Buddhist monks rub shoulders with ethnic Tibetans, Nepalese and Indians in the town`s busy market.
Soldiers in olive green stroll down, relaxed and unarmed.
But underneath the surface of apparent calm is a sense of tension and heightened expectation.
The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who is revered here as no other, is in town.
