In June 1998 the ABS M10 LSC (Logistic Supply Craft) successfully passed UK acceptance by its customer, the Sri-Lanka Navy with 50+ knots fully laden showing a performance significantly above target. Production was subcontracted to Vosper Thornycroft Ltd.

The Hovercraft is used for Logistic Supply purposes. Whereas with conventional vessels, the Navy had to circumnavigate the entire Island of Sri-Lanka to travel to its north, the ABS M10 can shortcut the route over Adam`s Bridge (a human built access to the Indian subcontinent) which means a significant time-saving.

The vertical backbone helped humans deviate from the more prostrate posture common in the members of kingdom animalia during evolution. Paleo-Anthropologists around the world must be working day and night to shed light on what caused the humans achieve this straightness of the backbone that helped them stand on the hind legs and be upright. I am sure, at this moment too, somewhere, some place across the world, they are still thinking and working hard to establish theories to patch up the missing pieces of evolution of the vertical backbone.

Eternal complaint of Tamils, especially those who write to blogs, over minorities being treated second class citizens in Sri Lanka, made me to question my own conscience for its true image of Tamils. Naturally I hate Tamil terrorists and those who support them, irrespective of whether they are Tamils, Sinhalese or Muslims.

I rebuked my learned Sinhalese friends who talked high about military might of LTTE and ingenious war strategies of Pirabaharan. I saw my friends unpatriotic with a colonial mindset of backwardness and besides, selfish, gullible and low material. They spread the word of Tamil military superiority, just by gauging the number of people they killed, ranging from unarmed civilians, children and women, who travel in buses and trains and work their fields in villages, to ministers and heads of states and also the mayhem they created on ground.

I am no historian, nor an art critic. I have this photograph which I took at the Anuradhapura museum. It is dated 160-130 BC. I hope people will see that there are even pre-Seegiriya art still found in Sri Lanka.

Three child smuggling victims were from Jaffna



The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) yesterday said the three Sri Lankan children who were part of a child trafficking racket uncovered in Singapore were residents of Jaffna.
The three children are residents of Jaffna and they have come to Colombo with their parents. There is one girl aged 11 and two boys aged 13 and 14. In the case of the girl child the parents have attempted to make the alleged trafficker the legal guardian of the child, NCPA media spokesperson said.
