Following is an email I got from my friend....

Hi Friends,

I write this with a lot of sadness, relief and hope, form what has happened in the past few months. As a Tamil, (and proud to be one) I deeply feel that together, we can build the burnt bridges and pave a path to peace, happiness, equality and prosperity for us and for the future generations to come.

We cannot forget what happened for the past three decades, however we need to put aside our emotions, despair and remember those lives, which were lost in bloody war in the name of equality . We (Tamils) have to now reconcile and win the trust of the nation. For decades, we have been secretive, unpredictable and uncompromising. Sure enough, we were discriminated in the past, deprived of our equal rights and treated unfairly. Now we have to give the nation a chance to prove that, it is not the case.

The fine line between a protest and a mob Wednesday, 29 April 2009 - 7:27 PM SL Time

Torontonians rightly celebrate the multicultural nature of their city. But such sentiments were tested this week, as an ongoing cycle of Tamil protests besieged tens of thousands of workers in the city`s downtown core, adding idle time to core-bound commutes, and subjecting the country`s most expensive labour to the constant angry thrum of folk drumming. There is a fine line between accommodating spontaneous political action on behalf of a legitimately concerned ethnic group seeking to express solidarity with brethren overseas -- and letting one`s city be taken over by a mob.

Hundreds of demonstrators blocked an intersection in central Paris, throwing bottles at passing buses as they demanded that Sri Lanka end its military assault on Tamil-held areas.

`French people, react`, `Sarkozy, help us` chanted an estimated 500 demonstrators as they gathered near the Gare du Nord train station for the protest, which had not been declared to the authorities.
said the demonstrators might be charged with belonging to an `armed gathering` as the bottles they threw could be considered weapons.

YORK UNIVERSITY TAMIL STUDENTS ASSOCIATION PROMOTES TERRORISM AND HATE Tuesday, 24 February 2009 - 9:41 AM SL Time

To: YORK UNIVERSITY
On February 17th 2009, there was a very serious incident that occurred on York University campus. The York University Tamil Students Association (YUTSA) held a rally for a separate state in Sri Lanka in support of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam), arguably the most lethal and well organized terrorist group in the world. It was insulting enough that YUTSA waved the LTTE flags but they took it much further by lighting the Sri Lankan Flag on fire. This insult to all Sri Lankans was perpetrated in front of Vari Hall for thousands to witness. Furthermore, when a Sri Lankan student tried to stop them by putting out the fire, these members of YUTSA began a physical altercation with the student. The Sri Lankan community in Canada and abroad are outraged by these acts of hate directed towards all Sri Lankans.

Open Letter to PM Gordon Brown Tuesday, 17 February 2009 - 11:40 PM SL Time

Rt. Honorable Gordon Brown Prime Minister of Great Britain
10 Downing Street
London. SW1 2AA UK.

Honourable Prime Minister:

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) aka `Tamil Tigers` electronic-voice `Tamilnet` informs us that you as the British Prime Minister had stated that `there is a need for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka and that he would be raising the matter with French President Nikolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel`. I am surprised that you left out wanting to raise this matter with `God` too to be much more effective.
