I am still the Chief Justice - Statement of CJ Wednesday, 16 January 2013 - 4:00 AM SL Time

I am the 43rd Chief Justice of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. As the Chief Justice, I have an obligation and an unwavering duty towards the judges, lawyers and the citizens at large of my country.

I stand here before you today having been unjustly persecuted, vilified and condemned. The treatment meted out to me in the past few weeks, was an ordeal no citizen let alone the Chief Justice of the Republic should be subjected to. The 32 years of continuous service at the University of Colombo and the Supreme Court, during my 54 year lifespan, I have rendered in varying capacities towards my mothers_day.jsp' class=black>motherland, is rewarded unfortunately, in this unjust manner.

This is the last paragraph of the article written by Colonel. J. Fernando. It`s a shame that the army who defeated most ruthless terrorist group in the world is helpless before politically backed armed thugs.

Today, our forces are being treated like a used condom. They sell vegetables, provide security for the former LTTE leaders and get beat up on street, in the lobby of a hotel by thugs.

Feel sorry that great solders have to live like this!!!

Minister Wimal Weerawansa said today the recent Z- Score fiasco was not the fault of the government but instead the eminent person who devised it should take the blame.

Who devised the Z score? It was not the ministers neither was it a decision of the cabinet. It was devised by intellectuals, therefore if something goes wrong with it why do the ministers have to be blamed? Instead it is those who devised it who should be blamed, he said.
