Future Minds of Jaffna, the 3-day educational and industrial exhibition organized by the security forces concluded with a successful note on Monday (Dec 29). Some two hundred thousand people attended the exhibition on the last day itself.
Despite the LTTE sympathizers around the world desire them to die as suicide bombers, or risk their lives in mindless terrorist acts Tamil People in Jaffna were seen with smiles, and enjoyed the event held in a carnival atmosphere. Number of local and South Indian artists brought back long denied joys to the Jaffna youth who know little about entertainment.

NEW DELHI: The sharp erosion in the value of money and the spiralling prices of essential items may have played havoc with people`s lives, making it
difficult for them to maintain their living standards, but the government is stubbornly sticking to its definition of who is `poor`.
In an astounding position before the Supreme Court, it has held that one has to earn only Rs 455 a month in urban areas and Rs 328 in rural areas to escape the poor tag.

Commandos rescue eight LTTE child soldiers

Police Commandos the elite corps of the Police Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday rescued seven child combatants along with another 20-year old youth who had been forced by the LTTE to engage in a terrorist attack against the security forces in unliberated areas.
According to STF sources, the commandos had rescued the group of young LTTE cadres comprising four girls and four boys when they had successfully intercepted a terrorist movement at a location close to the 212 milepost

Congress worried over Lanka situation but does not support LTTE

New Delhi (PTI): The Congress on Saturday said it was worried about the situation in Sri Lanka torn by ethnic strife, particularly about civilian casualties, but said it was not supporting the cause of LTTE or its chief Prabhakaran.
`We are only concerned about the civilian casualties. We are not supporting the cause of LTTE and Prabhakaran. It is a banned organisation in India,` Congress media department chief M Veerappa Moily told reporters.
