Dear Mr. Rudd,
Northern Territory Mandatory Sentencing Laws
I learnt through Reporter Nick Calacouras of Northern Territory News that new laws proposed by the Northern Territory Government, to be passed by the end of the year, would require jail time for a first assault. It is also widely reported that this would adversely affect Indigenous
Australians more than any other group. I am able to identify with this through my own experiences here in the state of New South Wales.
