The brand spanking new Airbus 340-600 sat in its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) on November 15, 2007 to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.

The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is.

The 24th anniversary of the commemoration of war heroes of the Special Task Force, who sacrificed their lives during the war, was held today at the Katukurunda Training camp, Kalutara. Police Chief Jayantha Wickremeratne was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

Step by step we will get there. Sri Lankans have suffered enough. The areas in red are the once under LTTE control. The area in blue are the ones we freed from LTTE and re established Tamil, Muslim and Sinhalese people.

Thanks to our armed forces for their great sacrifice.

New York: The world`s first revolving, pre-fabricated tower is to be built in Dubai by Italian architect Dr. David Fisher with a development value of around $3 billion (Dh11 billion).

The 80-storey Dynamic tower will be 420 metres tall and located on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The tools used today in real estate are so primitive. From 1889, steel was used to construct the Eiffel tower and then reinforced concrete was used in 1905. We are still building similar to how the Egyptians built the Pyramids,` Fisher told Gulf News before the launch in New York.
