Dilhara Fernando

It seems pretty certain that Dilhara Fernando will play in the second test between India and Sri Lanka at Kanpur, due to the injury sustained by Dhammika Prasad.
Many people were surprised at Dilhara`s recall, I am one of them. However, I wish him good luck for the sake of Sri Lanka`s success. If he fails it means Sri Lanka will find it difficult to achieve that alusive test win in India.

Health benefits of Papaya
Thursday, 12 November 2009 - 7:20 PM SL Time
|
The papaya is an amazingly rich source of the proteolytic enzymes. These are the chemicals that enable the digestion of protein. Papain, which is the most important of these enzymes in the papaya, is extracted and dried as a powder for use to aid the digestion, and it is often used as a meat tenderizer, the enzyme partially breaking down the meat fibres - digesting them in fact.
Many experts, such as Dr Lytton-Bernard, have claimed rejuvenating properties for papaya, especially for the control of premature ageing. It may be that it works simply because a poor digestion leaves the body without the correct nutrients. Those who find it almost impossible to digest anything frequently find that papaya used regularly, either in tablet or juice form, marks the turning point in the climb back to vitality and good health.

Will this be Murali`s last tour? I hope not
Saturday, 7 November 2009 - 3:51 PM SL Time
|
Sri Lanka`s national cricketers will take wing to Mumbai today for a six week long tour of three Test Matches, five One-Day Internationals and two T-20 Internationals. The tourists will be hoping that they will win their first ever Test on Indian soil, something they have not managed despite playing regular cricket with the neigbouring country.
If he sticks to his plans, this series will be world`s highest wicket taker Muttiah Muralitharan`s last Test tour. Muralitharan has indicated that he would retire from Test cricket after next year`s home Test series against the West Indies.

Dr. Dr Wijaya Godakumbura - Vote for Him
Thursday, 22 October 2009 - 2:57 PM SL Time
|
A BRIGHT IDEA
He is Dr. Wijaya Godakumbura.
He came out with a simple idea to replace the traditional bottle lamp used in poor Sri Lankan homes with a safe lamp which does not turn over and catch fire.
He has silently carried out this mission and have so far handed over 775,000 units to save twice the number with possible burns and loss of life.
We should be proud of him as he is now being short listed amongst 12 finalists to be voted for the coveted BBC World Challenge 2009, organized by BBC, Newsweek and Shell.

Palitha Perera: Singhalising Colonial Cricket
Thursday, 8 October 2009 - 12:45 PM SL Time

He was in tears before the vast gathering, not once but twice.
Before a jam-packed hall, the famous Ananda Samarakoon Studio of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (or the SLBC, earlier known as Radio Ceylon), he strived to hide his tears, during his thanksgiving speech. The reception was so overwhelming that his inner surprise and satisfaction would have easily found an escape in the form of a weighty tear drop. So natural. Over 45 years of passion and commitment shown in a chosen profession, which he had to define and redefine himself, has brought in its wake, at least belated appreciation.

Masculinity

DEDICATED TO GG :)))
Contrary to stereotypes about sexual performance and masculinity, men interviewed in a large international study reported that being seen as honorable, self-reliant and respected was more important to their idea of masculinity than being seen as attractive, sexually active or successful with women.
The study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine included interviews with more than 27,000 randomly selected men from eight countries (Germany, U.S., U.K., Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Italy and France), with about 16 percent of the men reporting erectile problems.
