Tamil Nadu state assembly opposition leader and the Southern Indian state`s former Chief Minister accused the State`s current Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi of actively supporting the LTTE terrorists and not doing anything for the poor Tamil civilians who are being used as a human shield by the Tigers to safeguard themselves.

``Reports reveal that the LTTE is using the innocent civilians, living in that areas, as human shields by preventing the Tamils from leaving to safer places. This horrible practice of using civilians as human shield must be stopped forthwith,`` she said.

A well respected Hindu astrologer from Karnataka, India, Mr. A. K. P. Theventhra Rajh predicts that between November 8 and 15, 2008 is a very critical period for Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of the Tamil Tigers, the terrorist group fighting to carve out a separate state for the Tamil minority in Sri Lanka. BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A Sri Lankan man living in upstate New York has been sentenced to time served, about seven months, for smuggling people from Canada into the United States by boat.

Mohanraj Selvarajah will likely face deportation following Monday`s sentencing in federal court in Buffalo.

According to court papers, the 48-year-old Lockport resident told investigators he was given $5,000 to buy a boat in September 2007 and was told he would be paid more to smuggle three people into the United States.
