1. Parliamentarian Raviraj Shot Dead

If this news about LTTE attacked from mobile gun positions near camps is true, it shows the nature of the grave danger that innocent civilian are facing in NE.

It seems, SLA operations have to be conducted with extra caution, without falling into both, LTTE fire as well as LTTE traps.

The best way to do that is, minimize the engagements near population concentrations. This may not the optimum option from war point of view, but, definitely, its the approach GOSL must follow.

One tentative solution:

1. Immediately map all refugee camps and other internally displaced locations. This can be done with latest satellite images (or Air photos), with available maps.

2. When LTTE fires, locate those gun pistons regularly and mark on maps.

3. Give a wide media publicity for the trend of these mobile gun movements and population concentrations.

4. It will discourage LTTE to use that approach, if they are doing that deliberately.

Good direction.
I hope most of us will move to that. Collecting a group to discuss on this deadly issue is the most difficult task.

We dont have an clear agenda, but we have a precise gaol, PEACE.
While getting a deeper understand of Tamil`s burning issues, I wish can do some productive contribution.

As an example, when we all, I mean over 75% agree to any issue, we can keep it somewhere (ask Mr.B to archive it), in short, then we can refer it in future, how we treated that particular issue,..
Of course, this must be considered the in-come of new members.

One possible issue that we can get 75% OK:
GOSL must take the bigger responsibility to supply food and other necessities to Jaffna

This incomplete news item is just an eye candy.

It only gives very attractive few hints. If GOSL is serious, they must give some actual example, like, 
`already started the rehabilitation and selected 100 of LTTE deserters for job training`,..like that.
Giving jobs in abroad....is a big `?` for me.

But, GOSL must start a very firm and well-organized system to help NE Tamils, not only LTTE deserters, but all Tamil boys to engage in some productive job/training.
If not, south is not welcoming them due to the suspisions...

Sorry about your bad experiences, and also sorry about that Sinhala office. This war made 1000s of your kind of stories. Its not easy to blame for one section or limited time duration.
This is the unfortunate history we have.
This war is like a natural disaster. Sri Lankan mind is not helping to settle for peace.
Not help to build any trust.

So, as long as this parasite eat our mind, we will fight.

I cant expect people like you to talk only about peace, as, I wrote, you have some reasons to follow LTTE ideology. But, let time to heal and build some faith for peace in your mind. But, keep talk for your people, argue, and expect a decent solution.

This small line from you says all the matters in SL. We cant have a hard core JVP member here. If we can, JVP will not survive in SL.

I wish, we may have, but most of them are busy with finding daily needs,..not time to be in forum like this perhaps.

I like Shakthi, he has very deep arguments,..I like if he can think bit middle way for JVP too. Some argue, talking and working for UNP is indirectly, the best way to diminish the poverty,..but its not that successful. Day and day, income disparity is increasing and poores are going down.

LTTE followers will learn this bitter truth, once they have political freedom in those areas. Now, NE LTTE area are like a big Thissa.

I agree with you and that is the case. But, Sinhalese or those government were acted without having a `cruel motivation` to discriminate Tamils. It was a social background that we had, fighting to divide opportunities, and result, Tamils had difficulties to get the right share, when Sinhala politicians were fighting for big places in the parliment.

LTTE came in that background, like JVP replaced all left in south, LTTE replaced all Tamil hard opposition, but sadly by killing 100s. But, it made clear that there is an issue and IC now knows that well. (I wrote this few times here).

Now, we both sides are really tired of the journey. LTTE is also having a very sad face, as it cant deliver any good to Tamils so far. Tamils are really waiting to have `any` kind of end!

I wish, a time will close to have one nation, no minorities, only one nation and few ethnic groups with religions.

I am sure, there is a group within LTTE wants to go for a quick solution by talks. But, LTTE or VP is always keeping some space to brake the trust, as he thinks war as a very effective tool to talk to GOSL. But, the day is coming closer for VP to push for a solution, as now IC is with this matter, so LTTE or Tamils followers will be not badly isolated, even if they dont trust GOSL.

This fact is partly coming under my 1st point, poor drainage system.

But, the deforestation (cutting the forest) is not highly affective for micro-climate, as no research have proved that positively.
Loss of the forest is related to the local rainwater flow, but in this case, this is urban flood.

Global level rainfall up and downs are coming through El nino and La nina (up and down of sea surface temperature) making these type of heavy rains or drought.

When the local infra is not suitable, we have to face urban flood.

Sorry, shall we put away the war in this topic, those forest clearance are not that much effective.

I think, there are many occasions, LTTE started, like SAL did, perhaps one is massacring surrendered 500 or more police officers in east, some years ago. Also, we saw, nearly everyday, some peoples movement killed 5-10 SLA solders, before the attack to Fonseka.

When you have fully LTTE ideology, its so hard to think from other way, but trust me, I have no any extreme ideology. What we like to see is an end, and not how it developed.

Why this started is the only place we have to go back and find a `solution`. If not, if we are going to punish each and every bad person in this war, we will never find an end.

This war is like a chain. I do, you do, I do, you do, and we are passing it to our younger generations too, and so on.

I am always optimistic, Sinhalese can live with Tamils, beautifully.

As I posted just above, when LTTE is dragging this gurrilla war + conventional war, SLA is in a very tough environment to response. It has to keep a sort of face for IC, protect civilians, protect its dignity as an army,..and so on.

You have posted all Tamil net news,..
If I try to show all SLA net news and try to convince something, its not very attractive.
But, I always read Tamilnet, to get LTTE side news.

And, after those recent attacks, SLA lost more than 120 on one spot, Habarana bomb. Do you think any government of the world will go for talk, just after 10 days of such disaster to its army. But, GOSL did great, even after Galle, it just went for talks. Then all are thinking its for IC.
A big yes,..why? SL is not a rich country. Government cant be isolated. If it isolated, not only Sinhalese, but also Tamils will die. We know, LTTE is not strong enough to feed Tamils, even for few days. 

What I feel is, we have to find a solution. Tamils are the people who crushed by this, than Sinhalese.

I am 100% sure, if we settle for a solution, LTTE can get a very decent settlement, less than a separate country. GOSL cant escape from that duty now.

I wish LTTE will realize this reality now and cultivate some faith and some expectation.

And, after British started to rule the country after Kandians gave the King, British are the people gradually put the foundation(even without knowing its future) to present day issue. Its rule gave the foundation to cultivate unnecessary nationalism in Sri Lanka, which eventually became a crack between Sinhalese and Tamils.

So, UK must get a part of blame for every single person killed in this unfortunate endless war.

In today`s world, all these colonial masters are having all the luxury life after extracting all what they can from our countries and just sleeping there, while we are killing each other here.

SL must file a case against the UK, at Hague, I think,...to get the correct involvement or compensation for each person killed by this ethnic war. They must not saty there calm like this.

I never agree with killing people, I know JVP did a lot. In both uprising. But, we know how brutally the government killed those boys,...we herd how they remove skin of captured boys with broken glasses, before they killed, and how they insert ballpoint pens into eyers, and how they burn alive, etc.

All in my family are very strong UNPs, even today. Even, some of the village people throw stones to our home in 1970 election. The funniest thing was my eldest bro, who was the a young UNPr at that time spend few weeks in the jail, after wrongly suspecting as a JVP supporter.

We cant, white wash JVP, but we cant give any credit to governments too, for how they killed people in those incidents.
Actually, government actions gave a background for VP to convert Tamils into LTTE ideology and guide against GOSL.

But, I think, latest trend in SL politics in good. JVP is facing a threat to survive, due to foolish leadership of Somawanse, and its too hard policies.

2. No arm smuggling while talks going on
3. No any violence while talks going on
                    
BUT, I think it must be like this, 

1. Firm assurance from VP for talks. 
2. Firm assurance from LTTE to stop all kind of use of arms including smuggling 

In return, GOSL must give assurance to LTTE, 

1. Full protection for people in NE. 
2. Continues supply of food and other essential items to NE. 
3. Assurance to not forming alternative Tamil political force to replace LTTE while having talks. 

Then, LTTE and GOSL can stop violence on each other and go for talks.

we all have to agree that GOSL must take the responsibility for human right violation.

But, same time, LTTE cant escape from the scene. It pushed GOSL for the sake of its mission.
