The europeans refered the south Asians as `INDIANS` and yeah there was no india, but you have to acknowledge that bangaladesh and pakistan was part of india. So clearly, Srilanka is was and is not part of the Englishs` Indian map.
Ceylon was a different country and India was a different country. so clearly Budda was not from Srilanka and before sangamithai came to srilanka, Sinhalese were Hindus.
