[Fonseka said the LTTE had 3,000 fighters and pledged that the military could defeat them by mid-2008.]
Lot of people talk about this 3000, 5000 etc.etc. figures. But what they don`t understand that General Fonseka used it as a tactical figure. If he told at the begging that there are 15,000 soldiers and we are going finish them all, many would think that LTTE could not be defeated and would not yield his cause. So he had to give a false target to convince those who were on the fence. As the commander, he very well knew exact numbers.
