[all what you have said could have worked if applied in 1950s but now it is too late after all these losses. federal type solution with internal self determination is the viable alternative for a separate state.]
Thalaivar, we can only hope Sri Lanka to come out stronger after all these troubles. May be this is a learning curve.
Remember, there was lot of bloodshed in USA civil war that laid the foundation for a stronger nation.
