[But, Buddhism protected in SL]
Sansare
I totally respect Lord Buddha and I respect Christ and Mohammed too.

My question is: Buddhism survived 400 years of European rule, as did Hinduism. Why do you need state protection? The religion should live in peoples` minds, not enforced.

One of my friends witnessed in a Kandy CTB bus: An old Tamil Catholic priest was seated in the first row, reserved for `clergy`. A young Buddhist monk got on the bus, went to `that` seat and claimed his `rightful` place. The Catholic priest got up and travelled standing for the rest of the journey.

I know all the hawks will tear me apart for writing this but I have to write what comes to my mind, with due respect to the sensitivities of our friends. In my mind I think religion should never be allowed to come into public life. All religions should be equal. I would like to know your thoughts:))
