[Pluto, where are you based? in Munich. ]
Hi Dip, Yes, I`m in Munich. [Turkish ppl in Germany does not have that good of a reputation but every one forgets that they contribute a lot to the German economy.] It`s worse being a Turk in Germany than being any other nationality. They them selves bring down a lot of resentment from the Germans by segregating them selves. They have a big problem integrating as I mentioned earlier. I some times drive to a small Turk dominated town to by my weekly groceries. It`s like walking into a mini Istanbul here. I never go there after dark due to the crime rate. Not even my neighbors dare do that due to fear of being mugged. Even at local schools the kids never mingle with their German piers. I found it quite appalling to see two sections of kids in the same school system. Although they were born and raised in Germany, the Government still look at them as Auslander(Foreigner), the word has a very harsh meaning such as a parasite in English if you want me to put it bluntly. The bottom line is Germans have a problem with foreigners. Since the end of the war, they haven`t moved much forward regarding the ethnic issues. It`s their mentality to think that all foreigners are scroungers and they`re here to take their wealth away. So long, they have this attitude not only the Turks every foreigner here have to put up with stares, and other criticisms. |
