[Silly Lnaka is running out of Generals. ]
Actually this is incorrect. The success of the last year can be attributed to the fact that the current mid,senior level officers are battlefield trained. The battalion commander and above ranks are all fully experienced with 25 years + battlefield experience from their junior officer time .i.e. they came on board as lieutenants and worked their way up the ranks while in continuous action. The current mid level officers captains,majors (i.e. company commanders) are very experienced due to being in actions. The NCOs are again experienced due their exposure. SO in summary with the addition of new equipment + reorganization into commands, the force is run by a very experienced officer/NCO core. The successes of the last year is proof of that. Additionally, the recruitment of new soldiers to replace attrition,retirement and expansion has been going well. The last year has yielded close to 35 battalions.That is pretty considerable. For the first time there is a political and military will (internal and external) to finish the job. The General is not saying anything that is fiction. The LTTE should not have pissed him off by trying to kill him. The reason that that the LTTE gambled with killing him and the Defence Sec. is due to the threat these two individuals are to the existence of the LTTE. Payback is a B*tch! Next year will be very interesting! |
