[The woman held in connection with the robbery of a new born from the Colombo South Hospital on December 18, had promised a bribe of Rs. 20,000 to two minor employees of the hospital to help her, police investigations have revealed.]
Rs. 20,000/- is not peanuts even now. So, it is most likely that snatching babies from hospital is part of a big racket. The fact that the husband of the arrested woman has gone into hiding is indicative of something sinister.
Lets hope that the investigations will be conducted without any interference until the authorities get to the bottom of the racket.
