Maitreya, the point is you can`t expect politicians to do everything, least not in Sri lanka, but if you seriously think about it, if you or your friends can get together you can do a lot to help the some of poorest communities in Sri Lanka, especially in the North & East. For example look at what Horizon Lanka Foundation is doing (http://www.horizonlanka.org/) to help some of the poorest communities in SL. Sri lanka will not develop if you leave everything to the politicians, but if our Tamil & Sinhalese communities can get together we can not only bring peace and but also develop the most needed communities in SL.
