[Sarasavi festival- funds go to the evil
(LeN-2007 May 30, 6.00 pm) The Lake House Trade Unions charge that a massive fraud has taken place at the last Sarasavi awards ceremony which was held at the BMICH on the fifth of May spending over 20 million rupees. The trade unions say that a special award should be presented for this fraud. Meanwhile one of the state banks has agreed to come in as a sponsorship paying 5 million rupees, but it did not realize due to a protest conducted by the trade unions of the bank. Our sources say 14,554,345.00 rupees have been spent on the festival while 6 million rupees have been spent for decorations. However the organizers have still failed to provide a comprehensive report regarding the matter. A spokesperson of the Lake house trade union told LeN that one of the editors who was an organizer had immediately paid up a 500,000 rupee bank loan which he could not pay for quite a small time. Our source say that a massive number of Sarasavi papers had been printed for the festival and the relevant person had soled some them as well.] |
