The general thinking of the average Singhalese is that all Tamils are LTTE and supporters of Terrorism. My birth into a lower middle class Tamil family was not my choise I firmly believe that it a placement according to the `karma bank bance`. That law of nature never fails as like in the natural law that `EVERY ACTION HAS A EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION`. So there cannot be a logical reaction to be proud or ashamed of my background. From the days of Ceylon becoming independent our rulers mismanaged the country. Sennanayes were looking at the Tamils suspiciously and tackling them in deplomatic way, giving them Ministerial Appointments etc. The SLFP, and the so called socialised parties were power hungry and adapted communal politics. The innocient Tamils were mercilessly attacked for the First time in 1958, later in 1977 and subsequenly in 1983 and regularly there after. Very intelligient young poor boys were kept out of the higher education and jobs. The Monied people sent their children to private institutions and abroad and educated while the poor ones formed various GROUPS according to their conviction and finally resulted in many `ARMED GROPS`. These were educated young men well disciplined. The Tamils are gererally peaceful and the crime rate among them was the lowest in the country. The highest was in Balapitiya and Negombo and the south where JVP originated. AFTER 1983 we could not have lived in the Colombo and the south IF NOT FOR THE LTTE. Go to CHVAKACHERI and see for yourself the attrocities of the Air attack by `Uncle Ratwatte` at the instication of the President saying that it was WAR FOR PIECE. That was the biggest joke of that time and also denying the journalists the right to see those places and systematically killig some of them. SO ARE WE TERROrists FOR THE SIMPLE REASON OF SUPORTING THEM. IF NOT WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE?. Even today there is no need for any talk etc provided THE GOVERMENT TREAT ALL CITIZEN OF THE COUNTRY ALIKE CONSIDERING MERICT AS THE ONLY CRERTIRION FOR EVERYTHING. If you want to give a change to the under devoped area like Monoragalla, Akuressa give them special previlages on a qota basis. But to maintain the required efficiency of the proffession DO NOT ADMIT FOR COURSES WITH LOWER MARKS. Develop all parts of the country on an equal footing and let the administraters make the correct decion withot the interference of the politicians. The development of a place is determined by the efficiancy of the transport and communication facilities. Make it compulsory/mandatory for the qualified people to serve the country a certain period. IF THE GENUINE PROBLEMS OF THE PEOPLE-TAMILS OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER THEN THEY WILL NOT TAKE ARMS. Terrorists are people who attack anyone for the purpose for personal gains and reasons. WE were well and truely connered by all ruling governments making use of the state machinery. What else you expect us to do when the OLD FOX said that the Government cannot provide security to all and you lookafter yourself. |
