Sri Lanka Marxists organizing a massive rally to `protect the people`s mandate`
Monday, February 12, 2007, 13:53 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka`s Marxist nationalist People`s Liberation Front (JVP) is planning to launch a mass campaign against the government under the guise of correcting it, JVP sources said.

The JVP is organizing a mass rally, themed `Government changing track. Let`s protect the people`s mandate` on 15th of February at Nugegoda in the outskirts of the Colombo city.

All the JVP leaders including Somawansa Amarasinghe, Tilvin Silva, Wimal Weerawansa, Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, and K. D. Lal Kantha are to address the rally.

JVP internal sources said that this kind of a rally was not held in recent years. JVP is reportedly organizing to bring a massive crowd to Colombo to show its mobilizing power in order to take a new turn in politics, party sources said.
